Program Director, B.A. in Construction Management and Master of Engineering Management Programs, Temporary Full-Time Location: Glassboro, New Jersey Categories: Managerial Summary: The Program Director is responsible for the successful operations of the B.A. in Construction Management and Master of Engineering Management (M.E.M) programs. The Program Director, Rowan Global will serve as an advisor for the Master of Engineering Management program. The Program Director in collaboration with the Henry M. Rowan College of Engineering will be responsible for ongoing program growth, quality, and improvement. The Program Director will build and sustain positive relationships with faculty, administrators, prospective and enrolled students, and other university offices. Although working collegially with the ability for input, the Henry M. Rowan College of Engineering will be the final decision maker on all academic matters. About the Division of Global Learning and Partnerships: Rowan Global is Rowan University's vehicle to reach out and serve the needs of college students, working adults, lifelong learners, and the business community. Students enrolled in our academic programs include college graduates pursuing masters or doctoral programs and returning college students pursuing the completion of a baccalaureate degree or certification. Rowan Global Solutions, a unit within Rowan Global provides a large portfolio of non-credit services and products, including continuing education units, customizable solutions for industry, business, nonprofit organizations, and other key external constituencies. Position Description: The Program Director will lead initiatives to build the program, curricula, and foster faculty and student community within the Henry M. Rowan College of Engineering and Division of Global Learning & Partnerships and will oversee all program logistics including scheduling courses, assigning instructors and serving as the main contact person for faculty, staff and students. This position reports to the Vice President, Rowan Global with a dotted line to the Vice Dean, Henry M. Rowan College of Engineering. Essential Position Responsibilities/Functions: Under the direction of the Assistant Vice President, Academic Affairs, the Program Director is responsible to accomplish the following: - Provide leadership and strategies to guarantee a continuous growth of the programs by working in collaboration with engineering faculty and administrators affected by the programs.
- Create the fall, winter, spring and summer course schedules for all graduate and undergraduate construction management and engineering management-related programs in all appropriate delivery modes.
- Coordinate with other academic colleges for elective courses.
- Edit course schedules as needed in consult with the Vice Dean, Henry M. Rowan College of Engineering.
- Determine instructor assignments and makes needed adjustments.
- Cultivate professional relationships with key individuals and organizations in the fields of engineering and construction management.
- Establish, coordinate, and implement articulation agreements with county colleges and technical schools to create successful pathways for students pursuing a degree in construction management.
- Collaborate with the Division of Global Learning & Partnerships (Rowan Global) on items related to marketing, student recruitment, admissions processing, online support, and budgeting.
- To work in collaboration with the Henry M. Rowan College of Engineering to maintain a robust network of qualified professionals in the fields of construction and engineering management for the instruction of the online programs.
- To work in collaboration with the Henry M. Rowan College of Engineering to assist in the hiring, supervision, and development of adjunct faculty.
- Direct textbook ordering, syllabi development, and distribution.
- Review student application materials of candidates for programs; makes admissions decisions; facilitates acceptance and enrollment of candidate into courses, and provides candidates with initial and updated program of study through program or degree completion as appropriate.
- Provide academic advising for students on academic/curricular issues, career pathways, and opportunities.
- Act as an advocate for students to promote student retention and success.
- Willingness to travel to campus locations and external organizations as required to advance program growth and development.
- Perform other duties as assigned by the Vice President, Rowan Global.
Required Qualifications: - Advanced degree in Construction Management, Civil & Environmental Engineering, Engineering or closely related discipline from an accredited college or university is required.
- Five (5) years of proven industry experience in the field of construction management.
- Teaching experience in the area of construction management and construction engineering at the higher education level.
- Ability to work without supervision.
- Ability to handle multiple tasks and complete various projects within designated deadlines.
- Exemplary attention to detail and strong organizational skills.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills to clearly convey information in person and through electronic communications.
- Excellent interpersonal skills, use of tact, patience and courtesy.
- Experience in utilizing Microsoft Applications and electronic reporting processes.
- Ability to travel to promote the programs regionally.
- Ability to work evenings and weekends when needed.
Preferred Qualifications: Ph.D. degree in Construction Management, Civil & Environmental Engineering, Engineering or closely related discipline from an accredited college or university is required. |
