This is a new position within the recently launched Office of Health Information and Data Sciences (OHIDS), overseeing a portfolio that includes the Institute for Informatics, Division of Biostatistics, Bernard Becker Medical Library, Office of the Chief Research Information Officer, and in close partnership with Medical Public Affairs, the Office of Medical Education, and the Division of Biology and Biomedical Sciences. The above represents an alignment of critical units across the School of Medicine integral in a top-tier academic medical institution. The incumbent will work closely with faculty, staff and senior leadership and report to the marketing manager.
This position is able to adapt quickly to the ongoing growth of the OHIDS portfolio and remains up-to-date regarding projects, education initiatives, and services to strategically support the team. The role requires an individual with organizational and analytical skills alongside strong business judgment and communication skills needed to interact with a variety of people and job functions. This position maintains a high-level of professionalism, maturity and urgency. In addition, the candidate understands and embodies a high degree of emotional intelligence and applied curiosity as it relates to the instituteâ™s mission and vision.
Occasional work outside normal working hours. Ability to travel to on and off-campus locations.
Primary Duties and Responsibilities
Events: Under the guidance of the Marketing Manager and in collaboration with the marketing team and various stakeholders, this position is responsible for planning and executing a variety of OHIDS events. Includes developing timelines, budgets, programming, coordinating well-written and seamlessly branded deliverables (may include signage, video, collateral, website content, events, emails, newsletters, blog posts/social and promotions), including obtaining approvals. Â
Writing and Editing: Serves as writer and editor for the marketing and communications team, working with the Marketing Manager to develop and produce content that tells stories about the work and research done in OHIDS, and highlight resources available through OHIDS, topics of interest to the professional community, etc. Content will appear on websites, summarized/linked via social, newsletters, as well as in reports, presentations, brochures, exhibits, etc. Ensures brand and message alignment as well as adherence to university style guide/AP style. Â
Other Marketing and Communications Support: Assists with general marketing and communications team duties, including posting content to websites and social media, creating email newsletters, maintaining mailing lists and digital files, fielding inquiries, and other duties as assigned. Â

Demonstrated proficiency in:
Serving as project manager for all phases of event planning and execution.
Working closely with teams of collaborators and stakeholders who comprise event planning committees, preferably in an academic, nonprofit, scientific or health care setting.
Producing high-quality written content for a variety of formats and organizational voices, within style guide parameters.
Using social media in a professional capacity.
Additional preferred proficiency in:
Email list management via MailChimp or CRM.
Web content management systems (WordPress).
Basics of graphic design/layout and image editing software (Adobe InDesign, Photoshop Illustrator).
Strong organizational skills, excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Ability to communicate professionally and effectively at all levels in person, by phone, email and video chat.
Ability to work independently and also to be a cooperative and effective team member.
Meticulous attention to detail, priorities and deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
College degree required and two years of related experience.
$42,100.00 - $69,600.00 / AnnuallyThe salary range reflects base salaries paid for positions in a given job grade across the University. Individual rates within the range will be determined by factors including one's qualifications and performance, equity with others in the department, market rates for positions within the same grade and department budget.
