The Practice Excellence Specialist is responsible for managing professional practice resources and initiatives for the Emergency Nurses Association and its affiliates by utilizing comprehensive, evidence-based knowledge of emergency nursing and emergency health care. The Practice Excellence Specialist provides clinical expertise and collaborates with a broad range of stakeholders to ensure successful execution of projects related to emergency nursing practice, quality, safety and injury prevention.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Develops and disseminates resources for best practices in emergency nursing care according to established development guidelines which integrate key ethical elements in patient care and safe practice.
Facilitates process to ensure all practice resources are regularly reviewed and kept current or archived; works in collaboration with product management staff to maintain accurate tracking of resource cadence as part of the education portfolio.
Facilitates development and revision of ENA position statements according to established development guidelines; prepares documents for board review and approval.
Serves as a content expert on emergency nursing practice and regulation, emergency health care and disaster management, and health policy for internal and external stakeholders.
Provides leadership, education, and mentoring for ENA members concerning clinical practice, quality, safety and injury prevention trends, issues, and standards.
Writes and facilitates development and publication of articles, newsletters, book chapters, electronic documents, white papers, and other material related to practice, quality, safety, and injury prevention issues of importance to emergency nurses, other health care providers, and the public when deemed necessary or upon request.
Collaborates with external stakeholders and organizations to support and advocate for emergency nursing practice and emergency health care.
Works closely with the Nursing Research and Education Departments to conduct studies, translate research findings into practice, and review educational material relevant to emergency nursing practice and emergency health care.
Manages committees, work groups, resource specialists, and other groups according to ENA’s strategic and business plans. Maintains consistent communication to monitor engagement.
Develops agendas, materials, and reports, and disseminates information to appropriate individuals/groups.
Maintains accurate financial and departmental records for practice initiatives. Participates in departmental strategic and business planning.
Contributes to the workplace culture that is consistent with the association’s culture statement and emphasizes the mission, vision and values of the organization.

Performs additional related duties as required or assigned.
Master’s Degree in Nursing with a relevant clinical focus
Minimum of 5 years of recent experience working as an emergency nurse, nurse practitioner and/or clinical nurse specialist with demonstrated skills and proven track record of success
Pediatric emergency nursing experience
Teaching and mentoring experience
Project management experience

Nature of work requires an ability to operate standard business office equipment. Requires ability to communicate verbally and in writing in an exchange of information; collect, compile and prepare work documents; set-up and maintain work files, participate in meetings. Use of the computer, with repetitive motion, is approximately 80%.
Majority of work is performed in a general office environment. Occasional travel may be required.
