Housed within Stanford Athletics, the Associate Athletics Director for Development is a member of the Office of Development (OOD) which advances Stanford's mission by raising philanthropic support from alumni, parents, families, friends, and institutional funders. Working in concert with volunteers and university leaders, OOD staff members strive to accelerate Stanford's purposeful impact in the world. The Associate Athletics Director for Development will be a leader within the DAPER Development Team as we enter a transformative period of fundraising and growth at Stanford Athletics. A launching pad for career growth and development, the successful candidate will manage multiple units of the DAPER Development Team working with alumni and friends to support the people, programs, and facilities critical to Stanford's future achievement while serving on the Athletics Leadership Team.
Responsibilities will include:
Manage unit(s) within the DAPER Development Team.
Direct staff and provide leadership to achieve goals and vision of the organization.
Plan and implement a comprehensive major gift fundraising strategy for Stanford Athletics.
Maintain a portfolio of major gift prospects focusing on gifts of $500,000+.
Collaborate with volunteers, DAPER coaches and staff, and Office of Development colleagues to develop goals and fundraising activities.
Promote a culture of diversity, equity, inclusion, and belonging.
Other duties may also be assigned.
To be successful in this position, you will bring:
Bachelor's degree and seven years of relevant experience and management experience, preferably in an educational institution or nonprofit, or a combination of education and relevant experience.
Demonstrated fundraising experience, sensitivity, and diplomacy.
Excellent judgment, interpersonal and communication skills. Ability to lead and motivate others.
Strategic skills to craft and help implement fundraising plans.
Demonstrated managerial talent in guiding major gifts efforts.
Proven ability to meet fundraising goals with a strong track record in managing and balancing donor and faculty relationships.
Ability to manage a large number of fundraising activities simultaneously.
Exceptional verbal and written communication skills.
Effective management experience and excellent interpersonal skills; demonstrated experience recruiting, evaluating, mentoring, and placing staff.
Demonstrated experience engaging and motivating groups of diverse individuals, including strong volunteer management skills.
Demonstrated knowledge of and adherence to NCAA bylaws.
Certifications and Licenses:
The expected pay range for this position is $156,000 to $205,000 per annum. Stanford University provides pay ranges representing its good faith estimate of what the university reasonably expects to pay for a position. The pay offered to a selected candidate will be determined based on factors such as (but not limited to) the scope and responsibilities of the position, the qualifications of the selected candidate, departmental budget availability, internal equity, geographic location and external market pay for comparable jobs.
