Duties:
The Department of Communication at the State University of New York at New Paltz seeks an assistant professor of Global, Sustainable and Nonprofit Communication beginning in Fall of 2023.
We especially encourage applications from individuals who can bring diverse cultural and ethnic perspectives and experiences to the campus and who can advise and mentor all members of our diverse student body. A master's program in Strategic Communication has been developed and is undergoing state approval. The successful candidate will teach graduate and undergraduate courses such as:
· Global Communication (MA program)
· Nonprofit Leadership (MA program)
· Environmental Organizations and Sustainability (MA Program)
· Crisis, Risk, and Disaster Communication (BA program)
· Social Change and Advocacy Communication (BA program)
The normal teaching load is 9 credits per semester. Although teaching is the primary responsibility at SUNY New Paltz, scholarly work and ongoing service to the department and college are expected.
Qualifications:
Required:
A Ph.D. in Communication, Media, or a related field.
Research program focused on global, sustainable, and nonprofit communication ~ Demonstrated record of scholarly publication
Post-secondary teaching experience as the sole instructor
Proficiency with instructional technology and online teaching
Preferred:
As a secondary area of expertise, professional experience or research program focused on writing and design across media
Evidence of experience with engaged learning pedagogies
