About TTARA:
The Texas Taxpayers and Research Association (TTARA) is a non-profit, non-partisan organization dedicated to promoting sound state and local tax and fiscal policy in Texas. We are widely recognized as a credible, thoughtful voice in legislative and policy discussions, and we pride ourselves on our high standards of research, writing, and advocacy.
We are currently seeking a bright, motivated individual interested in learning about and growing with our organization. TTARA offers the opportunity for advancement in pay and responsibility for an individual who wants to develop as an association professional.
Position Summary:
The Administrative Assistant will assist with administrative and membership related tasks. This role involves strong organizational skills and an ability to communicate professionally. The position requires in-person work most days, with a hybrid option on certain days.
Key Responsibilities
Assist the President in scheduling meetings and organizing travel.
Answering the phone and routing calls or messages.
Greeting visitors to the office, providing refreshments, and validating parking.
Monitoring and ordering office supplies.
Keeping common areas neat and clean.
Preparing outgoing mail to TTARA members.
Tracking membership outreach.
Assisting with research document edits and basic research tasks.
Assisting with meeting and event planning. Responsibilities could include organizing catering, preparing name badges, printing materials, and working the registration table at onsite events.
Digitizing paper files.
Travel to TTARA events outside of Austin.
Other duties as assigned by TTARA’s president.
Minimum Qualifications
4-year college degree required.
Experience in an administrative assistant, receptionist, scheduler, or similar role is a plus.
Previous association experience is a plus.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office, especially Word and Excel.
Exceptional organizational abilities and attention to detail.
Strong written and verbal communication and interpersonal skills.
Ability to think independently of Artificial Intelligence.
Maturity and good judgment in interacting with others.
Ability to maintain confidentiality.
Residence in Austin, Texas, or willingness to relocate.
TTARA was formed in 1974 and is a nonpartisan, nonprofit organization exempt from federal income tax under Section 501(c)(4) of the Internal Revenue Code. TTARA dues are deductible by members as ordinary and necessary business expenses to the extent the dues are not used to influence legislation. Each year, TTARA provides an estimate to members of the portion of dues that will be used to influence legislation. TTARA does not make political contributions to candidates for public office.
The TTARA Research Foundation, a 501(c)(3) organization, is an affiliated research and educational entity that conducts independent research related to economic, fiscal and public policy issues. Foundation reports are provided to policymakers and the general public.
