Serve as the primary point of contact for Chapter Executives and leaders; provide exceptional customer service
Develop strong working relationships with Chapter Executives and leaders and ensure these stakeholders are committed to AFSA national goals
Proactively identify Chapter needs and advocate for Chapters within AFSA
Work closely with the Member Relations Specialist to support membership recruitment and retention via Chapters; assist with and collaborate on recruitment and renewal outreach
Provide Chapter leaders and Chapter Executives with resources needed to succeed; hold regular Chapter development conference calls; produce a monthly Chapter leader newsletter; identify and recommend, budget, allows professional development opportunities for Chapter Executives
Assess Chapter growth opportunities; oversee the Chapter establishment process including working with a third-party vendor to ensure incorporation documents fully executed
Optimize AFSA’s Chapter program including developing struggling Chapters through an action plan; monitoring annual program compliance; documenting and communicating program details; ensure compliance with AFSA chapter and affiliate requirements
Identify one-third of AFSA Chapters for annual visits; prioritize travel based on needs; recommend attendance at select Chapter events to other AFSA staff members; develop annual travel plan according to budgetary guidelines
Plan and implement an effective and successful Chapter Leadership Conference(s)
Manage and administer the Chapter Grant program and administer all Chapter reimbursement programs with full transparency, effective communications and according to deadlines; assist leaders with forecasting appropriate Chapter Grant requests
Write and produce the Chapter Operations Manual and other Chapter related materials
Develop an annual budget for Chapter activities; monitor financial performance
Advise Chapters on staffing models and provide guidance and assistance with recruiting staff for Chapters
Manage the content and resources on the Chapter Resource page on the AFSA website including Chapter maps
Work with marketing and communications staff to provide marketing tools to Chapters and to promote Chapter activities through official channels
Produce annual reports about Chapter activity
Ensure accurate Chapter Executive and Chapter Officer contact information is up-to-date and readily available to members, leaders, and staff via various systems
Participate in cross-functional teams as assigned
Serve as staff liaison to assigned committees and groups
Perform other duties as assigned by supervisor
Travel to AFSA national convention, Chapter events and meetings, AFSA Committee meetings as assigned as well as industry events as assigned
Education: Bachelor’s degree required CAE preferred Experience: Minimum of Two years' experience working with Components/Chapters at a national nonprofit association. At least two years’ experience preparing budgets and monitoring financial performance Skills & Abilities: Excellent communications skills Advanced Microsoft Office skills—Excel, Word, PowerPoint Detail-oriented; experience with project management Ability to manage webpages in a content management system Tech-savvy Competencies: Excellent people skills Exercises sound professional judgment. Recommends solutions. Displays a positive attitude
