Community Development Institute (CDI), a private, nonprofit corporation with headquarters in Denver, Colorado, is engaged in organizational development, leadership development, and training/technical assistance. CDI is the Head Start National Interim Management Contractor (NIM) for the Federal Office of Head Start.
The Parent, Family, and Community Engagement (PFCE) Specialist position provides ongoing support to local staff of Head Start/Early Head Start programs under interim management. The PFCE Specialist will assist programs in understanding and implementing the Head Start Program Performance Standards in the areas of ERSEA and Family & Community Engagement and provide training and technical assistance (TTA) as needed (both onsite and remotely).
CDI Content Area Team Support:
Ensure the services provided for parent education, family wellness, and family needs related to their child’s development are provided in alignment with the Head Start Program Performance Standards and state requirements.
Conduct ongoing oversight and monitoring of all aspects of the PFCE areas of all HS/EHS programs assigned, including all data systems, to ensure accurate data is entered and up to date.
Ensure compliance with Head Start Program Performance Standards regarding family engagement and ERSEA.
Ensure local staff is accountable for ongoing monitoring compliance.
Provide technical assistance, ongoing training, and support of PFCE local program staff’s professional development.
Participate in the interview process of local PFCE staff.
Perform duties of local PFCE staff in the event of a temporary position vacancy.
Conduct regular child file checks for programs assigned to ensure completeness and compliance, using the Child File Review checklist in DataSay in each program.
Visit assigned program sites with enough regularity to meet needs and requirements, as requested by the Site Manager and Lead Site Manager.
Provide support in the development of service area plans, policies and procedures aligned with Head Start Program Performance Standards.
Work collaboratively with Site Managers to maintain high quality standards for children and families through monitoring of child files.
Assist Program Support Lead, PFCE in the interview process for Parent Family and Community Engagement consultants.
Submit required monitoring reports in a timely manner according to schedule.
Maintain current PFCE documentation on CDI’s intranet.
Assist CDI staff on special projects, which requires flexibility and readiness to assist and support special projects as needed.
Writing and Editorial Work:
Create and edit impeccable written reports, manuals, and policy documents to support a wide range of CDI’s projects and activities.
Adhere to CDI’s editorial style guide in writing and editing.
Work with appropriate staff to research and collect information needed for producing all written materials.
Education and Experience Requirements:
Minimum of a bachelor’s degree in social work, human services, family services, counseling, or a related field, and experience working with young children and families.
Direct experience in a Head Start or Early Head Start program in the PFCE content area.
Preferred: Experience providing training and technical assistance to a variety of Head Start and Early Head Start programs, cultures, and program design models.
