Position Summary:
Oversee daily accounting operations to ensure the accuracy and integrity of the general ledger and related financial records. Prepare and gather reports to support reliable financial statements and informed business decisions. Deliver high-quality work while maintaining and safeguarding the organization’s financial health.
Qualifications:
Three to five years’ progressive accounting experience
Bachelor’s degree in accounting or related discipline, required
Experience in an electric utility or associated industry is preferred
Knowledge of nonprofit accounting standards preferred
Knowledge of FERC and RUS accounting standards preferred
Knowledge of federal and state accounting requirements
Knowledge of all types of financial operations at a company and how they work together, including fixed assets, payroll, capital credits, etc.
Possess and maintain a valid state driver’s license
Duties and Responsibilities:
Assists in assuring accuracy of General Ledger, subsidiary ledgers and financial statements through general ledger maintenance and accounting including reconciling, preparing and entering journal entries, other accounts receivable, fixed assets and the month-end/year-end close.
Compiles a variety of financial, statistical, budgetary, tax, and accounting analysis reports and assists with producing reports for audits.
Understand payroll procedures, tracking hours, benefits, and deductions.
Collaborate with Utility Accountants and cross-train in accounts payable, plant accounting, and payroll
Assist Utility Accountants in solving accounting problems.
Assist in internal audit functions on office procedures related to accounting and perform test inventory standardization
Interdepartmental support: (assisting personnel in other departments with accounting related problem solving, researching, and compiling data)
Coordinate data processing functions with accounting, reports and enhancement
Assist in budget design and formulation.
Planning, as it relates to accounting system design, to increase operational
Querying and data mining for COSA and rate
Manage online
