Mobile Infirmary is a community based nonprofit adult hospital within the Infirmary Health system with an average daily census of five hundred and fifty patients.
Residency Program Overview
The PGY-1 program (accredited through ASHP since 2005) is comprised of 3 traditional positions and 2 nontraditional positions. Traditional residency training is completed over the course of 1 year while nontraditional training is completed over 2 years and is available to pharmacists currently employed through Infirmary Health.

The residency experience consists of 10 five-week rotations, a longitudinal research project and manuscript, and longitudinal projects detailed below designed to evaluate and optimize patient care through the Infirmary Health system.

Residents are met with at the start of residency and quarterly to assess interests and curate the learning experience schedule.
Additional Responsibilities:
Weekend service coverage every third weekend (alternating between clinical and operational staffing)
Operational staffing (4 hour shift weekly)
Coverage of major holiday (either Thanksgiving, Christmas, or New Years)
Research project presented at the Alabama Residency Conference, the Southeastern Residency Conference, and at the Midyear Clinical Meeting
Longitudinal Projects:
- (1) ACPE-accredited seminar presentation
- (1) Medication use evaluation
- (1) P&T formulary recommendation, treatment guideline, or protocol
- Within learning experiences:
(1) In-service presentation (audience of nursing, pharmacy, provider, or interdisciplinary)
(2) patient case presentations
(2) journal club presentations

The applicant must possess a Pharm.D. degree from an ACPE accredited college or school of Pharmacy and be eligible for licensure in Alabama. All applications must be submitted through PhORCAS (Pharmacy Online Residency Centralized Application System).
