Position Overview The Education Program Manager is a curious, visionary leader responsible for the strategic direction, growth, and management of the association’s education programs. This individual will bring an insatiable curiosity to exploring new learning opportunities and approaches, staying attuned to evolving industry trends, and deeply understanding member needs. With ownership of all educational initiatives, both in-person and online, the Education Program Manager will ensure alignment with the association’s mission and goals. They will drive efforts to deliver high-quality, relevant, and impactful content, making the association known for providing top-notch educational experiences that foster member growth and professional development.
Key Responsibilities
Educational Program Leadership
Take full ownership of the educational content offered by the association, including online courses, in-person events, workshops, and other training resources.
Lead the development and continuous improvement of the education department by applying a curious and innovative approach to discovering new methods, topics, and resources for learning.
Develop creative education strategies to expand beyond traditional monthly speaker events and meet the evolving needs of a diverse membership.
Member Needs Assessment
Regularly assess and demonstrate a strong curiosity for understanding the educational interests and needs of members, utilizing direct member and committee input along with current industry trends.
Tailor educational offerings to support members' diverse professional development goals and career stages by consistently questioning how to add further value.
Content Development and Cataloging
Establish and maintain a well-organized, comprehensive catalog of educational resources, keeping content easily accessible and member-centered.
Bring curiosity into the curation of content, ensuring that each educational program is current, engaging, and highly relevant to the skills and knowledge required in the industry.
Program Evaluation
Continuously evaluate the effectiveness of educational programs, approaching each review with curiosity and openness to feedback.
Use data-driven insights to question and understand the quality and format of content, implementing improvements that heighten members’ engagement and learning experience.
Professional Development Committee Leadership
Lead the Professional Development Committee with a spirit of inquiry, encouraging members to explore key trends and emerging educational topics in the marketplace.
Foster collaborative brainstorming within the committee to develop innovative, member-driven educational programming.
Strategic Growth and Goal Setting
Set ambitious, curious, and forward-thinking goals for the education department in alignment with the association’s mission and objectives.
Drive the education department’s growth by questioning assumptions, exploring innovative partnerships, and expanding offerings that elevate the association’s reputation as a leader in professional development.
Alignment with Association Mission
Ensure that the education department’s programs, resources, and objectives reflect a curious, proactive approach to the association’s broader mission and goals.
Act as a strategic partner to the association's leadership team, providing insights from a curious exploration of education trends and opportunities for growth.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Education, Business, Organizational Development, or a related field or an equivalent combination of education and related experience.
3 to 5 years of proven experience in educational program management, ideally within a professional association or similar organization.
Strong leadership skills with a demonstrated ability to inspire, engage, and nurture curiosity within committees and volunteers.
Excellent communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills.
Data-driven approach to program evaluation, with a strong curiosity for continuous improvement.
Highly organized and detail-oriented, with the ability to prioritize and meet deadlines.
The Greater Lansing Association of Realtors (GLAR) vision is to be the leading resource for accurate and local real estate information. Our mission is to promote the American dream of homeownership through a free enterprise system by preserving the right to own, use and sell property. GLAR serves members through providing educational opportunities, services (such as access to the MLS), and advocacy at the state and national level. This position collaborates with a team of 9 other staff and reports to the Chief Operating Officer. Staff are rewarded for their creativity, hard work and ability to have fun while working effectively with others.
