Position Summary:
The Cyber Range Coordinator is responsible for the day-to-day administration and operational oversight of the Bridgewater State University Cyber Range, collaborating with various stakeholders to ensure its effectiveness in providing hands-on cybersecurity training. In partnership with the Dean of the College of Continuing Studies, the Vice President of Information Technology, academic leadership, and CyberTrust Massachusetts, the Coordinator will ensure the range maximizes its value in delivering hands-on cybersecurity training for students, nonprofits, and private businesses.
This is a full-time, grant-funded position through fiscal year 2027 (ending June 30, 2027). An extension beyond this date is expected; however, continuation is dependent on the availability of future grant funding and program-generated revenue.
Position Type: APA Professional
Essential Duties:
1. Serve as the primary contact for all cyber range events and activities.
2. Manage day-to-day operations of the Cyber Range, including scheduling for students and external groups, event planning, reporting, billing, and maintenance contracts.
3. Plan and host various in-person and virtual cyber range events, including tours, promotional events, and cyber competitions.
4. Partner with the Dean and CyberTrust Massachusetts on hiring and scheduling cyber range instructors for in-person or remote exercises.
5. Provide operational support for cyber range instructors, assisting with audio/video components and other in-room technology.
6. Assist the College of Continuing Studies in developing revenue-generating programming for corporate team training, professional development, municipal organizations, or use by cybersecurity advisory professionals with their clients.
7. Collaborate with the Center for the Advancement of STEM Education to develop programming for K-12 populations.
8. Assist senior leadership with budget administration, including forecasting, procurement, and revenue projections.
9. Prepare reports and presentations on cyber range activities, metrics, and outcomes for internal and external stakeholders.
10. Design a portfolio of cyber range training services in collaboration with the Dean, relevant academic areas, and outside consultants to serve nonprofits, private businesses, municipalities, the military, K-12, and other higher education institutions.
11. Research, recommend, and implement enhancements (with CyberTrust Massachusetts and relevant academic areas) to maximize usage and user experience, such as new content, scenarios, labs, and competitions based on user feedback.
12. Work with university partners, CyberTrust Massachusetts, and community and industry organizations to develop programming that reaches underserved populations and diversifies the cybersecurity workforce.
13. Present at conferences and other events to generate awareness and market the cyber range.
14. Additional responsibilities as directed by the Dean of the College of Continuing Studies, consistent with rank and position.
Required Qualifications:
1. Bachelors degree (or commensurate experience) relevant to the position responsibilities.
2. Minimum of five years of experience as an information technology professional.
3. Practical working knowledge of cybersecurity concepts.
4. Strong verbal, written, and presentation skills, with the ability to interact effectively with diverse internal and external stakeholders.
Proven ability to work collaboratively and collegially in a team environment.
Preferred Qualifications:
1. Masters degree.
2. Experience in event scheduling and planning.
3. Budget planning and administration experience.
4. Experience working with cyber range platforms.
5. Experience working in a Security Operations Center (SOC).
10. Knowledge of higher education principles, practices, and procedures.
