Summary of Position
Reporting to the Associate Dean of Student & Community Development, the Assistant Director of Student & Community Outreach serves as the team lead for the Office of Community Engagement; bringing strategic oversight for a new Community Fellows program, project coordination for institutional community engagement programs, and administrative leadership to the Office of Community Engagement which is inclusive of Allegheny’s Bonner Leaders and Bonner Scholars programs. The Assistant Director cultivates strong relationships with community-based organizations and ensures that Community Engagement programs are meaningful and integrated into the College’s broader goals for community engagement and civic learning.

As the Assistant Director of Student & Community Outreach, you will:
- Coordinate a new Community Fellows program that brings distinguished community leaders from Meadville and the greater Crawford County region to campus for reciprocal learning and collaboration. Fellows will be co-educators who will teach Allegheny students how to engage in the community in sustained and meaningful ways. Through this program, community partners will serve as co-educators who introduce students to the inner workings of local government, nonprofit organizations, and community development efforts toward the goal of offering real-world insights that inspire civic responsibility and inform potential career pathways in the public social sectors. Coordinate the full life cycle of the program including outreach and selection of fellows, program design and logistics, and assessment of outcomes.
- Serve as the primary contact and project coordinator for college-wide service programs and events. Develop a community asset map that identifies the local non-profits, government agencies, and local areas of expertise. Manage college-wide service programs and events. Maintain partnerships across divisions within the College, including but not limited to Academic Affairs, Athletics, Institutional Advancement, Student Affairs, and Sustainability. Maintain partnerships with community partners and organizations and service on community boards as appropriate. Oversee large-scale service events and programming including: Make a Difference Day, Service Saturdays, and Alternative Spring Break trips. Lead training sessions for students and community partners in order to strengthen the relationship between Allegheny and the Meadville community. Advise individual students and student organizations concerning community engagement and service opportunities. Provide counsel for the campus dialogue efforts connected to the Sustained Dialogue Institute at Allegheny College..
- Administrative support to the Office of Community Engagement including relationship management, team supervision and staff oversight and budgeting. Provides administrative oversight to the college’s Bonner Leader and Bonner Scholars programs.

Experience and Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree and 4-7 years experience required
- Demonstrated experience working with students from different walks of life. Prior experience with the Bonner Program is preferable. Knowledge of the community beyond the college will be essential to this position.
- The successful candidate will possess a strong ethic of service, strong written and verbal communication skills.
- The successful candidate will possess the ability to work collaboratively, and have experience with grant writing/management, supervision, professional development, and community partnership development.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, Word) and the Google Suite of Products; experience with Databases preferred
- Occasional travel outside of the college

YOUR COMPENSATION
New hires are typically brought into the organization at a salary between the range minimum and the salary range midpoint depending on qualifications, internal equity, and the budgeted amount for the role.
The expected starting salary range for this position is $50,000 annually.
