Job Posting Title: Assistant Director of Development
Job Description:
Overview:
Reporting to the Vice President of Advancement, the Assistant Director of Development will play a key role in KGI's fundraising efforts, managing a portfolio of donors and prospects, developing engagement strategies, and securing gifts to support institutional priorities.
The Assistant Director of Development comprehensively understands fundraising, sales, business operations, nonprofit management, or related KGI departments such as admissions, outreach, alumni relations, or annual giving.
They should also be familiar with advancement best practices, relationship and change management, and supporting ambitious fundraising goals.
Education and Experience: A Bachelor's Degree and a minimum of (3) years or greater of progressively responsible experience in fundraising, sales, banking, business operations, nonprofit management, or related fields within higher education, non-profits, or other sectors is required. Experience in higher education or a non-profit setting is preferred.
Essential Functions and Responsibilities: Individuals must possess knowledge, skills and abilities to successfully perform the essential function of the position, or be able to explain or demonstrate how the essential functions may be performed, with or without, reasonable accommodations, using some other combination of skills and abilities.
Identify, cultivate, solicit, and steward donors, focusing on securing gifts of $10,000 or more.
Manage a portfolio of prospective donors and develop tailored engagement strategies.
Organize and execute donor outreach, including in-person visits, virtual meetings, and event participation.
Partner with faculty, leadership, and volunteers to build relationships with potential supporters and prepare KGI leadership for effective fundraising activities participation.
Fundraising Strategy, Campaigns & Writing (25%)
Collaborate with the Vice President of Advancement and KGI leadership to identify fundraising needs and develop annual, programmatic, capital, and endowment fundraising strategies.
Collaborate with KGI colleagues to develop various fundraising campaigns and initiatives.
Assist in related fundraising and writing assignments as necessary, including major gift proposals, stewardship reporting, and other fundraising communications.
Data Management, Reporting & Administrative Tasks (20%)
Utilize data analysis to inform prospect strategy and engagement.
Maintain accurate records of donor interactions in the official university CRM database, Blackbaud's Raisers Edge.
Design, execute, and maintain records for all Development functions, including targeted research, writing/editing, tracking deadlines, stewardship reporting, and documenting activities and outstanding proposals in the official database in a timely manner.
Other duties and tasks as assigned by the Vice President of Advancement.
Event Planning & Special Initiatives (10%)
Plan and execute donor cultivation and stewardship events or recognition.
Lead the planning and execution of KGI's Giving Day, engaging trustees and other donors in providing match or challenge gifts.

Knowledge of donor cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship best practices.
Knowledge of fundraising best practices, databases, CRM databases (Blackbaud's Raisers Edge preferred), and prospect research.
Ability to demonstrate confidentiality and professional discretion regarding financial and personal information about donors, volunteers, faculty, and staff.
Outstanding writing skills, attentiveness to detail, and excellent analytical and critical thinking skills.
Demonstrated ability to interact successfully with internal and external constituencies (KGI leadership, peers, donors, vendors, etc.) as well as individuals with varying abilities, backgrounds, interests, and beliefs.
Ability to work comfortably, respectfully, and competently with people of diverse backgrounds.
Strong sense of project ownership and accountability.
Demonstrated ability to meet deadlines, think strategically, and work with people, ideas, and numbers.
Positive attitude, flexibility, and the ability to multi-task in a fast-paced, high-project-volume environment.

Proficiency with word processing, spreadsheet, and other software (MS Word, PowerPoint, Excel).
Ability to handle multiple responsibilities simultaneously.
Flexibility and willingness to travel independently and work extended workdays and periodic weekends as needed to meet institutional goals.
Ability to lift 20 pounds and participate in light set-up for recruitment and on-campus events.
Hours, Classification, and Status:
This is a regular, full-time, benefits-eligible, exempt position.
The regular hours of this position are Monday-Friday 8:00 am-5:00 pm. Hours may vary due to the needs of the College or department.
Salary range: $75,000 - $82,000 annualized. The salary of the finalist(s) selected for this role will be set based on a variety of factors, including but not limited to, internal equity, experience, education, specialty, and training.
