Job Description
The Program Director is responsible for cultivating collaborative relationships across the college and with outside partners to develop opportunities for revenue generating activities that align with the Vassar College mission and minimize conflict with core undergraduate programs. Activities include identifying, analyzing, and implementing strategies for transformative revenue generation and diversification that will contribute to long-term financial sustainability for the college while aligning with core values.
This role reports to the Vice President of Operations for Technology & Human Resources. This is a one year position, scheduled to work 20 hours per week.
Responsibilities
Lead efforts to identify, review, and analyze ideas for how Vassar College can increase net revenue generation or achieve institutional savings, both through broad campus outreach and engagement as well as research on new opportunities and innovative approaches in higher education.
Collaborate with internal stakeholders to strategize how to increase and improve use of the campus for special programs and events. Design ways to provide better access to Vassar College's facilities and its educational, cultural, and professional resources for outside groups and partners. Analyze, minimize, and communicate the impact of such usage with impacted parties on campus.
Design financial modeling, program policies, tracking mechanisms, and assessment criteria to highlight potential impact for new initiatives while benchmarking and analyzing existing efforts.
Partner with internal stakeholders on campus to implement and oversee specific, actionable net revenue-generating opportunities that are sustainable for ongoing financial impact, can support Vassar College's core mission, and are compatible with the strategic plan and campus values.
Facilitate change management by communicating and collaborating with various campus units, offices, and college leadership to secure buy-in and support for new programs, projects, and initiatives.
Identify and navigate barriers or challenges to revenue generation or achieving savings, especially those that involve university practices, policies, or structures. Balance the need to work within constraints with the capacity and cost of undertaking change to remove barriers.
Proactively cultivate and pursue potential partnerships with outside groups and individuals who might be interested in funding, sponsoring, or promoting new programs, or who might present new and expanding opportunities for revenue-generation efforts on campus which are unique, marketable, and profitable.
Partner with internal working group to source and evaluate revenue-generating ideas, support pilot program implementation, address institutional barriers, and develop financial models that align with Vassar's mission and long-term sustainability goals.
Prospect and apply for start-up and long-term grants to support special programs and initiatives.
Required knowledge, skills and abilities
Minimum of 7 years experience in higher education, nonprofit management, or institutional advancement.
Experience in program assessment, financial oversight, and cost-benefit analysis to evaluate new initiatives and revenue opportunities.
Track record of successfully launching and managing revenue-generating programs or cost-saving initiatives.
Experience working with cross-functional teams, senior leadership, and external stakeholders to implement strategic initiatives.
Experience in financial modeling, grant writing, and institutional partnerships.
Preferred knowledge, skills and abilities
Experience organizing conferences, workshops, and working groups to advance institutional initiatives.
Compensation
The annual base salary for this part-time position is $50,430-$65,600.
When extending an offer, Vassar College considers factors such as (but not limited to) scope and responsibilities of the position, candidate's work experience, education/training, key skills, internal peer equity, budget, and other market and organizational considerations.
