MAIN FOCUS: The Director of Prospect Management and Research is a strategic leader who develops and implements a comprehensive strategy for the College's development research and prospect management programs. This person will join a highly functioning and collaborative Advancement Services team. Currently an individual contributor, the Director will have the opportunity to hire and lead a small team as the College moves into its next comprehensive campaign.
LOCATION: Moraga, CA (hybrid); Fully remote candidates will be considered.
WHAT YOU'LL DO...
The Director of Prospect Management and Research will envision, implement, and steward a thoughtful approach to prospect development in support of the College's gift revenue growth. Key elements of this role will be to establish a systematic process for prospect identification and tracking, while expanding the prospect base and building a strong pipeline. The Director will build and refine gift officer portfolios create and serve as the chief advocate for a consistent use of moves management fundamentals.
The Director will lead prospect screening efforts, including assessment, evaluation, and preliminary ratings recommendations. This individual will utilize quantitative analysis and data tools to assess capacity, philanthropic inclination, and affinity with Saint Mary's College.
This role requires a combination of technical skill, strategic vision, and emotional intelligence - the Director will regularly interface with colleagues across the Advancement team to achieve buy-in for new processes and solutions.
The AVP for Advancement Services will oversee the prospect development, data and reporting and gift administration teams and will report to the Special Advisor to the President. The AVP will maintain mutually respected relationships with staff and faculty across the campus understand priorities and policies, identify challenges and socialize new business practices, reports, and tools.
Requirements
YOU MUST HAVE...
Bachelor's degree or an equivalent combination of education, training, and work experience suitable for the position.
5+ years of experience working in prospect management and/or research, fundraising operations, information management and/or business intelligence, preferably in a large nonprofit organization or academic setting which focuses on principal and major gift fundraising.
Experience helping to drive organization-wide change and new norms.
Ability to translate complex analytical concepts in easily understandable terms.
Experience with process documentation and workflow design.
Strong analytical skills, organizational skills, and attention to detail; ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously.
High degree of professionalism; excellent written and communication skills, flexibility, a strong initiative and work ethic, commitment to problem solving and the genuine respect of and for colleagues at all levels.
IT'S AN ADDED PLUS IF YOU HAVE EXPERIENCE WITH...
Experience with EveryAction CRM or an equivalent donor database
Experience doing prospect research for constituents in the Bay Area.
