The Director of the SG Fund will lead the design and execution of storytelling-driven fundraising initiatives that build emotional connections with key constituents and inspire meaningful philanthropic investment in support of the SG Fund. This position sits at the intersection of marketing, development, and relationship-building, ideal for a creative thinker with a deep understanding of behavior, engagement journeys, and donor motivation.
The Director of the SG Fund must be a goal-oriented and creative professional responsible for continuing the upward growth of the SG Fund. Working with all SG constituencies, the Director of SG Fund Engagement will plan and execute a highly segmented and thoughtful approach to annual fund solicitation and retention. The ideal candidate will possess knowledge of best (and new) practices in annual giving, while bringing initiative and creativity to develop and implement effective strategies. The Director must possess exemplary oral and written communication skills, as well as having the ability to work in a fast-paced and dynamic setting. Regional travel for donor meetings and occasional evening and weekend work will be required.
Responsibilities:
Develop and execute a detailed, multi-channel (digital, direct mail, text messaging, personal outreach, and social media) SG Fund communications plan that strategically encourage, increase, and retain support for the SG Fund;
Use data insights and behavioral tracking to segment audiences and craft compelling communications based on interests, giving history, and engagement levels;
Work with Advancement colleagues to ensure seamless experience post-gift that strengthens retention and donor-lifetime value;
Conduct personal cultivation and solicitation for a defined portfolio of SG Fund donors, both in person and via Zoom;
Develop and execute strategy for all annual giving initiatives including the SG day of giving (ONE DAY) and Dragon Cups;
Create all appeal letters, online solicitations, pledge reminders, and acknowledgement letters;
In collaboration with the Director of Data Management, utilize technology and analytical skills to capture and interpret in-depth donor engagement data that allows for deeper segmentation and solicitation of key donor groups;
Create a persona matrix and email workflows as part of the office’s gift acknowledgment process;
Partner with the Communications Office to strategize and leverage content to enhance the individual donor experience;
Compile and generate alumni and student stories which can be used for engagements, solicitation, and stewardship; and,
Provide accurate and detailed reporting for the Director of Advancement.

Skills/Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree required.
Preference will be given to candidates with annual fund, communications, or marketing role-preferably in the nonprofit, education, or mission-driven sector
Familiarity with database systems and reporting
Exceptional storytelling and writing skills across multiple formats (direct mail, email, print)
Comfortable interacting with alumni, parents, students, and other constituents
Attention to accuracy, details, and deadlines
Proficient use of CRM systems, Microsoft Office Suite, especially Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
