The Council of Colleges of Arts & Sciences (CCAS), a nonprofit higher education association serving university deans, seeks an Executive Director to provide strategic leadership and operational oversight for a dynamic organization dedicated to the professional development of academic deans. Reporting to a Board of Directors, the Executive Director manages strategic planning, financial management, membership engagement, event coordination, board governance, and other functions. This role requires strong leadership, financial acumen, resourcefulness, the ability to take the initiative, and the capacity to work independently in a small-staff, remote environment.
Key responsibilities of this position are: organizational leadership & strategic planning; board governance & support; financial & budget management; membership development & engagement; committee & volunteer management; annual meeting planning and implementation; professional development seminars; hotel & venue management; member services & communication; virtual community engagement; and website & digital resource management. This position is supported by an Assistant Director of Programs and Membership.

Required qualifications include: an understanding of the current higher education landscape; a graduate degree, preferably in higher education, nonprofit management, business administration, or a related field; 7-10 years of leadership experience in nonprofit management, higher education administration, and/or leadership of membership organizations preferably in higher education associations; strong financial management skills, including experience overseeing a $1M+ budget; demonstrated ability to work independently while managing multiple responsibilities; experience reporting to and collaborating with a Board of Directors; expertise in event planning, conference management, and membership engagement; and experience with developing, implementing, and evaluating strategic planning (leadership role preferred).
