Description
The Associate Director specializes in industry relations and career coaching. Oversees professional development strategies for early talent recognition and career transitions for alumni. Assists all students and alumni in developing industry specific skills and strategies to adapt to the changing world of work in creative industries.
The Associate Director acts as a liaison to departments in the one of the Pratt Schools, collaborating with faculty in providing recruitment events, relevant coaching, programming and support. Counsels students and alumni from all majors across the arts, design, information, architecture, liberal arts, nonprofit sector and other areas of expertise as needed.
Examples of Duties
Employer Relations
Manage relationships with employers across one of the Pratt schools with the goal of identifying and securing potential jobs and/or internship opportunities for Pratt students
Organize career fairs, information sessions, and employer-related events for students and alumni
Supervision
Supervise Employer Relations Coordinator providing oversight on career counseling, career events and Fulbright. Together they manage and supervise the Students Event team, and Graduate Assistant.
Coaching
Develops students and new professionals to be the new leaders in the career fields of tomorrow through one on one coaching.
Conducts Assessment to measure student career interests, values and skills.
Conducts workshops on all aspects of career development for students and alumni.
Fulbright
Conduct workshops, panels, assist with applications and submissions. Create info sessions, one on one appointments, and workshops to raise awareness on campus of Fulbright programming and grant procedures.
School Collaboration
Act as lead liaison to one of Pratt's Schools
Maintain awareness of curriculum and industry trends.
Design discipline specific programming and events based on faculty requests.
Collaborate with campus partners in all schools and divisions on workshops and coaching.
Perform classroom visits as requested.
Technology & Data Management
Manage and optimize Center for Career & Professional Development (CCPD) platforms such as Handshake, LinkedIn, and CRM tools for student engagement and employer tracking.
Analyze employment trends, industry data, and student outcomes to inform career development strategies.
Oversee digital resources, career assessment tools, and job search platforms to ensure accessibility and effectiveness.
Research technology-driven solutions to enhance career programming, virtual events, and student advising experiences.
Provide training and support for staff and students in the use of career-related technology tools.
3-5 years of experience in career services, higher education, or relevant field
Successful experience managing stakeholders relationships including: HR, academic departments, student clubs, recruiting/employer representatives, university administrators, faculty, and alumni
Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively in an innovative creative and proactive team environment producing analytical reports encompassing the data from workshops, panels, information sessions, and large-scale recruiting events
Experienced in analyzing undergraduate and graduate students needs through individual counseling sessions, appointment data, survey feedback, and classroom visits to identify future programming needs
Knowledge of careers in the creative industry(s) and experience in producing internship and employment opportunities for students of diverse backgrounds
History of developing and maintaining industry partnerships
