AOSSM is seeking a Membership Coordinator to help develop and execute plans to maintain the Society’s excellent retention rates; meet new member recruitment goals; and deliver outstanding member customer service.
Working closely with the Director of Marketing and Membership, the position will utilize a full range of marketing tools to communicate Society benefits and services to current and potential members. They will collaborate across departments to implement new opportunities for value and engagement. The role serves as staff liaison to the Council of Delegates and provides administrative support to the Membership Committee. This role also is the primary point of contact for member services including phone calls and emails regarding account status and transactions.
The position requires a thorough understanding of membership recruitment and retention best practices, as well as exceptional time management, detailed organizational skills, customer service and verbal and written communication skills.
Roles and Responsibilities:
Serves as a membership point person, coordinating efforts within the Marketing & Membership team and actively collaborating with other organizational departments on the implementation and execution of membership initiatives.
Manages annual dues renewal campaign across multiple marketing and communication channels.
Develops and implements key year-round retention strategies (i.e. member welcome campaigns, early career engagement)
Supports development and execution of new member recruitment tactics (i.e. member referral program, mailings/list acquisition)
Utilizes association management system (Nimble) and other technologies to monitor key metrics and inform data-driven decision-making within the department and organization.
Responsible for maintaining and updating member records to ensure integrity of association management system.
Serves as staff liaison to Council of Delegates, coordinates committee’s elections/nominations, meeting agendas, minutes, and regular reporting/communication.
Maintains membership project management details and program calendar.
Writing/copyediting and web/CMS updates for membership emails, automation campaigns, web pages and other tactics.
Takes active role in budget management of membership projects.
Coordinates activities with third-party vendors and agencies on various tasks and manages these relationships (i.e. job board, branded items).
Other projects as assigned.
Qualifications:
A bachelor’s degree in business, marketing, communications, or related field.
3-5 (or more) years’ experience in membership, association management, customer service, marketing, or a related field.
Proficiency with association/customer management systems (Nimble or Salesforce preferred).
2-3 years’ experience with email platforms (Informz preferred).
Exceptional customer service skills and experience working with volunteer leaders or committees required.
Association or healthcare management experience (preferred).
Familiarity with website CMS and/or graphic design platforms a plus.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills, proofreading skills.
Ability to work as a team as well as independently.
Strong time management skills with the ability to multitask.
Detail-oriented approach with ability to be flexible and work under pressure to meet deadlines.
This position is a hybrid role based out of the AOSSM office in Rosemont, IL including two days per week in office. AOSSM offers a competitive salary and an exceptional comprehensive benefits package. Estimated travel currently includes overnight/out-of-state travel up to 10 percent annually, including up to five days to the AOSSM Annual Meeting in July.
