This hybrid role offers the flexibility of working both remotely and in-office, requiring just 1–2 days per week on-site at our headquarters. In this role, you'll handle accounts payable, accounts receivable, and various general accounting functions in a multi-company environment, contributing to the financial health of a mission-driven organization.

Accounts Payable:
Maintain accurate vendor records and related tax documentation.
Process, code, and enter invoices into the accounts payable system.
Reconcile receipts with consolidated Mastercard and American Express invoices monthly.
Manage staff travel expense reports.
Process weekly vendor payments via check or ACH/wire.
Complete month-end closing procedures.
Calculate and distribute quarterly chapter rebates.
Prepare and distribute year-end 1099s for vendors.
Accounts Receivable:
Manage Nimble (Salesforce) database batches, including reconciliation.
Process customer refunds efficiently.
Generate, reconcile, and distribute advertising and general sales invoices.
Monitor and follow up on outstanding accounts receivable balances.
General Accounting:
Prepare journal entries and account reconciliations.
Maintain compliance with sales and use tax requirements.
Assist in monthly close processes and year-end audits.
Provide general office and customer service support as needed.
Collaborate on department projects and perform additional duties as assigned.
What You Bring:
Associate’s or bachelor’s degree in accounting or a related field, with a minimum of two years of experience.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite; experience with Oracle NetSuite and association software is a plus.
Strong organizational, multitasking, and communication skills.
Self-motivation and the ability to work independently in a hybrid setting.
Attention to detail, confidentiality, and problem-solving expertise.
Flexibility in work schedule and ability to travel as required.
The American Foundry Society (AFS) is a non-profit association serving members of the metalcasting supply chain both in the United States and abroad. AFS provides members with advocacy efforts in Washington, D.C., technical education through its Institute, as well as the transfer of innovative research and technology to the industry, its suppliers and those who buy castings. Membership is individual or corporate and is made up of three markets, including: metalcasters and producers of metal cast parts; metalcasting suppliers; and casting buyers/original equipment manufacturers. Student membership is also extended to future leaders of the metalcasting industry at a nominal cost.
