The successful candidate brings a track record of proven fundraising experience that includes strategic and leadership, revenue growth, achievement and advanced direct marketing and communication skills. The Director of Membership works closely with other department heads to build a strong cross-team communication pipeline that leverages editorial, events and news initiatives to advance the fundraising priorities for a growing number of public media platforms. The successful candidate believe that donors of any amount are philanthropic partners. They have a strong background in digital fundraising, data analysis, and revenue modeling to increase individual giving and target new audiences. They are excited to develop new revenue opportunities tied to new content and emerging platforms. The Director of Membership thrives in a fast-paced setting, motivates and mentors others, and fosters creative approaches to achieving membership growth and philanthropic goals. This position reports to the Chief Membership and Development Officer.
Required Skills
12+ years of experience in successfully leading a membership and/or marketing program, preferably in public media.
3-5 years experience in digital fundraising leadership and subscription/sustainer revenue.
Master's degree, or equivalent experience.
A strong personal appreciation for the values and mission of public media, and knowledge of public medias programs and services.
Nonprofit leadership experience supervising multiple team members.
Experience working with Salesforce products, including Marketing Cloud.
This position requires a self-motivated thought leader with a broad background in non-profit fundraising, especially in the areas of individual gifts and digital fundraising.
Demonstrated ability to create and adapt audience journeys to grow revenue and engagement.
Demonstrated ability in leading a multi-faceted membership department with a strong commitment to team building and collaboration.
Excellent communication skills with the ability to build consensus among internal and external groups.
Strong storytelling skills.
Significant experience in result-oriented marketing that drives acquisition revenue and grows loyalty.
Ability to work in partnership with diverse teams of volunteers, team members, donors and community members.
Perform related duties as assigned by leadership.
Deep knowledge of fundraising best practices and initiatives, staying apprised of new and emerging fundraising trends.
Knowledge of donor database software systems and metrics-driven data analysis.
