The Assistant Director of Corporate & Foundation Relations will manage a disciplinary-focused fundraising portfolio in the life sciences of private foundations and corporations, overseeing identification, cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship activities. Reporting to the Executive Director of Corporate and Foundation Relations, this individual will be responsible for developing, writing, and editing proposals, and grant and stewardship reports. Along with other development materials to solicit gifts and grants from corporations and foundations to support Brown's priorities.
This role will cultivate strong connections with University faculty, researchers, and other academic leadership to identify, coordinate, and develop strategic research funding opportunities. The position requires a highly collaborative individual who is capable of building positive relationships and is eager to contribute through excellent interpersonal communication, written communication, and project management.

Minimum of 5 years of experience in a related field such as fundraising, higher education, sales, or the non-profit sector.
Required Qualifications
Proven ability to solicit and close gifts on the $500+ level, or equivalent experience in related fields (such as sales).
Exceptional skills in narrative and persuasive writing, copy editing, and proofreading
Ability to think strategically to effectively align the CFR Office with both University priorities and philanthropic trends and opportunities
Grant writing experience in academic, nonprofit, or related field
Direct experience working with faculty and academic departments
Discretion required
Excellent conceptual skills, analytical thinking, attention to detail
Strong ability to make compelling intellectual arguments to multiple constituencies
Strong planning and project management skills; ability to balance competing priorities and work well under deadlines
Preferred Qualifications
Understanding of Corporate & Foundation relations, especially in the life sciences
Maintain professional etiquette in communication with Faculty and staff.
Experience in an academic setting
Experience developing proposals for foundations and corporations
Development fundraising experience
