The Experiential Learning Coordinator will assist the Director of Experiential Learning in carrying out the mission of the Mays Center for Experiential Learning and Community Engagement (Mays Center). The Experiential Learning Coordinator is responsible for the coordination and logistical support of multiple details related to experiential and service-learning courses as it relates to the faculty member, students, and community partners, as well as the development and delivery of professional development opportunities for faculty to increase and enhance experiential learning opportunities for A&M-San Antonio students. Â The Coordinator also explores and refines community partner relationships for various work conducted with the Mays Center. Through these, the Coordinator promotes the implementation of experiential learning pedagogy and opportunities by supporting faculty professional development, course implementation support, and community engagement.Â
Responsibilities:
Assist faculty in designing, implementing, and evaluating experiential and service-learning courses; provides logistical support to faculty and serves as the liaison with community partners.
Develop and coordinate various professional development opportunities for faculty related to experiential learning, course development, critical reflection, assessment, etc. through engagement with key stakeholders in Academic Affairs.
This position will be a liaison to faculty and departments at A&M-SA University to support experiential education and is responsible to stay up-to-date on research and current trends in experiential education.
Provide an experiential learning orientation to students in service-learning and experiential learning classes; provide support to students enrolled in service-learning and experiential learning classes; monitors their progress towards project completion.
Coordinate the writing of Mutual Expectations Agreements between the Mays Center, faculty member, and community partner.
Establishes and maintains positive communication with faculty, students, and community partners to explore and develop opportunities to incorporate service-learning and experiential learning into the curriculum; helps troubleshoot site or student issues as they arise.
Develop, update, distribute, and collect all relevant service-learning and experiential learning course paperwork, including but not limited to criminal background check forms, risk management forms, and Mutual Expectations Agreements.
In consultation with the Director of Experiential Learning, addresses safety and risk management measures appropriate to the program.
Assess and document program effectiveness through faculty, student, and agency evaluations; prepare reports on service-learning and experiential learning activities.
Confer with and assist the Director of Experiential Learning in the performance of program administration and activities.
Assist in preparing annual reports, as well as management/tracking of courses.
Evaluate effectiveness of programs and recommend improvements or changes.
Assist the Director with promotion and management of the A&M-SA Experience Transcript as well as course designation processes to track student experiential learning.Â
Develop and sustain engagement with community-based partners such as nonprofits, government, and private businesses.
Represent the University at the San Antonio Volunteer Administrators (SAVA) and Service-Learning Intercollegiate Collaborative (SLIC) meetings.
Successfully represent the Mays Center in the office, in the classroom, and in the community with a strong professional presence; cooperate and collaborate with other employees in the spirit of teamwork and collegiality.

Required Education and Experience:
Bachelorâ™s degree in applicable field.
Three years of related experience.
Preferred Education and Experience:
Masterâ™s degree in applicable field
Experience in higher education.Â
Experience in the coordination of student learning activities, course development, and/or faculty training.
A working knowledge of risk management issues.
Community relations experience, particularly in San Antonio, is preferred.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Knowledge of word processing, spreadsheet, database, and presentation applications.
Must have the ability to effectively interact with faculty, staff, students, administrators, and community partners.
Experience in developing and facilitating partnerships; developing and delivering programs; and exhibiting excellent oral and written communication skills.
Demonstrated ability to organize and work independently as a leader and as part of a team.Â
Experience in event management.
