FISCAL OFFICER, Chemistry, to provide complex post-award research administration for faculty in the Department of Chemistry; serve as back up for pre-award; monitor the financial performance of active grants, contracts, subawards, discretionary funds, and billing agreements to ensure compliance with MIT and sponsor policies through the life of the award; review and approve subaward and billing agreement invoices; provide monthly financial analysis and projection to Principal Investigators (PI) to verify the proper distribution of resources and use of funds; review Financial Review and Control compliance; monitor past-due travel expenses, procurement card sweeps and violations; work closely with financial assistants and advise on complex approvals matters; advises and educates PIs, faculty, researchers, and staff on all aspects of sponsored research administration; and interprets MIT and federal policies such as the Uniform Guidance and the Federal Acquisition Regulation (FAR), Cost Accounting Standards, Office of Management and Budget circulars, and sponsored guidelines.
REQUIRED: bachelor's degree; a minimum of three years of experience with federal grants and contracts and financial administration; proficiency with Microsoft Office; robust customer service orientation; excellent organizational and communication skills; attention to detail; and ability to work independently and in a challenging environment with people at all levels.
