EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR, School of Engineering, will design and execute the strategy of the Tata-MIT Alliance, providing overall leadership and direction for the dynamic and highly complex new program; will define the goals and processes for achieving the strategic vision including developing innovative technologies relevant to Tata and India in the areas of Green Steel, New Materials, Hydrogen Economy, Energy Storage, Innovations in Mobility, Circularity, Remediation, and Valorization funded by Tata and performed by MIT and Tata researchers, facilitating MIT Student Exchange, hosting Tata Visitors including Visiting Scientists, and supporting Entrepreneurship activities.
REQUIRED: bachelor's degree and minimum of ten years of professional, post-training, experience in academia, industry or nonprofit sector; experience in leadership roles managing and implementing large, complex research focused programs with a high level of service and execution; knowledge of academic research principles, research integrity, and intellectual property policy as well as industry or the corporate sector; experience in technology-based businesses; ability to manage, supervise, and prioritize and delegate effectively, including the ability to empower, mentor, and develop staff; Ability to understand others and build relationships; outstanding interpersonal and communication skills with a diverse population including faculty members, administrators, staff, researchers, stakeholders, industry colleagues, media, and the general public, and sensitivity to the needs of multiple constituencies in a demanding academic environment; demonstrated strategic planning, implementation and negotiation skills and ability to maintain composure in all situations; and proven professional demeanor.
