Houston Christian, is accepting applications for the role of Billing Specialist. The Billing Specialist will be the first point of contact for visitors to the Business Office, be responsible for billing, and will provide accounting and administrative support to the Business Office. This position is a full-time, twelve month position and open to be filled immediately.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
Minimum of three years related experience.
Strong customer service skills
Post secondary education or degree preferred.
Proficient in MS Office (Excel and Word) and google applications.
Experience with Blackbaud Accounting Systems for Nonprofits beneficial.
PERSONAL SKILLS:
Exhibit excellent verbal, visual, written and interpersonal communication skills.
Strong organizational skills and detail oriented.
Ability to manage multiple tasks and consistently meet deadlines with consistent interruption.

TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT:
Daily hours are 7:30 a.m. until 4:00 p.m. or as directed by the supervisor. Occasional Saturday and/or evening work may be required.
This is a twelve-month, full-time position. Salary is based on experience and qualifications, and is paid in semi-monthly installments.
Benefits include premiums paid for employee’s group hospitalization insurance (less employee-paid portion), life insurance, social security, and eligibility for retirement plan participation.
Holidays coincide with teachers’ holidays during the academic year. Vacation is per the Faculty/Staff Handbook and is scheduled and agreed upon between the employee and supervisor.
Sick leave, personal business, and absence benefits are as per Faculty/Staff Manual.
PRIMARY PURPOSE:

RESPONSIBILITIES:
Billing and Receipts:
Creates invoices for all student tuition, incidentals, and to all third parties.
Researches and responds to billing inquiries, providing information to aid in problem resolution.
Monitor, collect, and process all types of payments from students, parents and other customers.
Prepares deposits with supporting documentation. May involve research, counting, and taking deposits to the bank on an as-needed basis.
Customer Service:
Serves as the initial contact person for all visitors/customers (students, parents, employees, external constituents, and guests) for all points of access to the Business Office and displays a welcoming demeanor.
Ascertains visitor’s needs and expectations and determines appropriate response in a prompt and respectful manner.
Accounting/Reconciliation:
Researches, compiles, analyzes, and reconciles student accounts, general ledger accounts, payroll accounts, and other financial accounts.
Assists other departments with access to, review, and analysis of budget reports.
Creates journal entries.
Supports the School’s accounting functions, as needed, to maintain current and accurate records of daily and monthly transactions in banking, payroll, accounts receivable, accounts payable, and general ledger.
General Duties:
Manages postal operations including metering outgoing mail, distributing incoming mail and preparing FedEx/UPS shipments.
Assists in audit preparation.
Assists employees with completion and processing of purchase orders, as needed.
Other support and administrative duties as assigned.
