TheFredHutchinsonCancerCenter(FredHutch)andtheUniversityofWashington(UW)arejointlyrecruitinga full-time faculty member at the Assistant Professor or Associate Professor level without tenure due to funding (WOT), intheClinicalResearchDivisionofthe FredHutchandan appropriate Division at the UW depending on training and specialty. Academic appointments at the University of Washington will be commensurate with experience, qualifications, and academic rank. University of Washington assistant professors WOT are eligible formulti-year appointments andassociateprofessorsWOT holdindefiniteappointments thatbothalignwitha 12-month service period (July 1-June 30). Faculty with 12-month service periods are paid for 11 months of service over a12-month period (July-June), meaning the equivalent ofone month is available for paid time off. University of Washington faculty engage in teaching, research, and service.

The successful candidate will have clinical responsibilities on the outpatient and/or inpatient palliative care servicebasedonthecandidate?sinterests(andinstitutionalneed).Thiswillcompriseapproximately40%ofthe faculty member?s time.
Fred Hutch and University of Washington faculty engage in teaching, research, and service. Ten percent of the facultymember?stimewillbeprotectedforadministrativeoversiteofPalliativeCare-relatedfellowshipactivities for medical oncology and palliative care fellows. Teaching responsibilities will include clinical oversite of fellows, informal teaching sessions and formal lectures to learners, providers and the general medical community. The balance of time will be spent in research related activities. At Fred Hutch, Clinician Scholars are expected to obtain externally funded research (e.g. grants, clinical trials), but this is not required if they maintain 50% oftheir time in clinical and/or administrative responsibilities.

While individuals with primary training in internal medicine are preferred, applicants with other training may apply(e.g.familymedicine,anesthesiology,rehabilitation,psychiatry, surgery, etc.).The successful applicant will be board certified (or be board eligible for current fellows) in their primary area of training.
In order to be eligible for sponsorship for an H-1B visa, graduates of foreign (non-U.S.) medical schoolsmustshowsuccessfulcompletionofallthreestepsoftheU.S.MedicalLicensingExam(USMLE)or equivalent as determined by the Secretary of Health and Human Services.
Theidealcandidatewillhavearecordofandprimaryinterestinpalliativecareresearch,asdemonstratedby peer-reviewed publications, grants and/or clinical trial experience, as well as experience teaching palliative care learners.

The annual base salary range for this position is from $208,780 to $453,269 for faculty hired at the Assistant Professor rank, from $247,400 to $501,175 for faculty hired at the Associate Professor rank. Pay offered will be based on experience and qualifications. Pay for Faculty positions is based on a variety of factors, including degree, specialty, clinical practice and experience. This position is eligible for relocation assistance and sign-on bonus.?
