Position Description
The PCS Operations Manager helps the Precollege and Continuing Studies courses run effectively and efficiently.
Position Accountabilities and Essential Functions
Ensure effective daily operations of PCS programs; troubleshoot and problem-solve.
Monitor eligibility of all instructors and teaching assistants.
Help interview instructors for non-credit classes.
Help train instructors on effective classroom management for all PCS courses.
Help instructors develop online and in person PCS courses.
Monitor and approve all course syllabi and lesson plans for courses
Monitor, approve, source and deliver all classroom supplies for courses.
Assist instructors with IT and AVC requests for courses.
Help supervise minors on campus during the Summer Youth and Teen program and the Precollege Summer Experience as needed.
Help maintain a presence on social media.
Ensure effective daily operations of the CE program; troubleshoot and problem-solve.
Assist the Department Administrator with PCS students, by phone and walk-in, on course selection.
Manage PCS student submissions, installation and de-installation of the SEO student exhibition.
Assist with the creation of the PCS courses by confirming faculty schedules, coordinating room assignments with the registrar, and preparation of the manuscript.
Assist with and facilitate PCS Outreach Programs.
Monitor PCS enrollments; determine course cancellations and schedule changes with director and expedite changes.
Assist with research and writing of reports and proposals.
Assist with PCS scholarship applications.
Perform additional duties as required.
Qualifications and Experience
Bachelor’s degree preferred
Teaching certificate preferred
Teaching experience preferred
Knowledge of visual arts
1-2 years administrative experience at a college or nonprofit arts organization
Outstanding interpersonal and customer relations skills
Strong organizational skills
Detail-oriented
Professional writing skills
Demonstrated computer literacy
WORK ENVIRONMENT: This job operates in a professional office and college campus environment. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate. The employee is occasionally exposed to outside weather conditions.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS: The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. While performing the duties of this Job, the employee is regularly required to maintain a stationary position, use a computer and other office equipment, and communicate effectively in person, by phone, and virtually. Frequent interaction with others, including staff, faculty, students and third parties is required. The employee may occasionally be required to move files or other objects weighing up to 25 pounds, including from low and high places. The ability to move around within the office and between buildings on campus, attend off-site meetings and events, and travel between Ford Campus site to Taubman Center site are required. CCS will make reasonable accommodations that will allow individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.
