OMS FOUNDATION (AAOMS) JOB DESCRIPTION
POSITION: Development & Donor Relations Director
STATUS: Exempt
REPORTS TO: Executive Director and Chief Operations Officer
LOCATION: Rosemont, Ill.
OVERVIEW:
The Development & Donor Relations Director plays a pivotal role in orchestrating and managing all fundraising initiatives, encompassing the annual fund, planned giving, major gifts, and corporate contributions. Key responsibilities include cultivating and nurturing relationships with donors, strategizing and leading funding campaigns, and deploying effective strategies to further the Foundation's mission. Collaborating closely with the Executive Director, Chief Operations Officer, and Chief Financial Officer, the Development Director ensures a unified approach in all development, fundraising, and communication efforts. This position is crucial in aligning the Foundation's strategic objectives with its financial resources to maximize impact.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Fundraising Strategy and Planning
Develop and implement a strategic fundraising plan to engage new individual and corporate donors and retain current donors.
Collaborate with Executive Director, Chief Operations Officer, Board of Directors and volunteers to identify programs of interest to potential donors and develop new fundraising opportunities.
Develop and manage implementation of fundraising activities such as direct and electronic mail appeals, individual solicitations, corporate sponsorship solicitations and special events.
Establish procedures and timelines for fundraising activities to ensure timely implementation of campaigns and events.
Serve as primary staff liaison to the Committee on Development, the Board of Directors and other committees as assigned in consultation with the COO and ED.
Donor Relations and Stewardship
Develop and grow a major gift program including identification, cultivation and solicitation of major donors, including legacy donors.
Develop a comprehensive communications plan in cooperation with the AAOMS communications division to promote the Foundation to current and potential donors and maximize awareness of the Foundation’s mission.
Event Planning and Management
Represent and advocate for the Foundation at key AAOMS membership meetings.
Assist with planning and engagement of OMSF Alliance programs and activities.
Oversee planning and execution of all annual meeting activities and execute on site responsibilities as determined.
Prepare materials for presentation and/or distribution at key meetings to showcase the OMSF.
Database Management and Communications
Manages relationships with third party software providers and payment processing systems.
Manages Raiser’s Edge database to ensure accurate recordkeeping and reporting.
Ensures that the Foundation staff has the necessary reports for fulfillment of their responsibilities.
Deploys latest upgrades for Foundation–specific software to maintain stable and secure environment.
Ensures that the Foundation remains in compliance with the Donor Recognition Policy in terms of reporting.
Ensures proper coding and timely deployment of mass email campaigns and e-newsletters.
Manages the design and distribution of marketing and communication materials for development efforts.
Perform other duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Bachelor’s Degree with 3-7 years of progressive development experience. Prior experience with an association foundation desirable.
CFRE designation strongly preferred.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills, coupled with strong interpersonal and organizational abilities.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
Experience with Raiser’s Edge and website platforms that integrate with Raiser’s Edge.
Strong capability to convey the Foundation’s mission and goals with enthusiasm and passion.
Robust collaboration and leadership skills.
Flexibility to work evenings and weekends as needed, with up to 20% travel required.
