This position supports the mission of Loyola Marymount University by helping to ensure the effective execution of the annual giving program, which sustains and grows the philanthropic base of support for the University. Reporting to the Director of Annual Giving, the Assistant Director oversees the production of appeals across all channels, including direct mail, email, and web. The position serves as a thought partner to Advancement Communications on audience design and segmentation, while working closely with database analysts to ensure accurate data delivery. The position is also responsible for tracking production expenditures against the budget, while also managing the reporting on program outcomes.

Position Specific Responsibilities
Serves as the project manager for all direct response appeals, crowdfunding efforts, and special campaigns like the Day of Giving. Develops project schedules, tracks due dates and deliverables, and ensures that all solicitations are executed on time. Serves as the primary point of contact for Advancement communication on all production issues. (40%)
Requests data for each appeal and partners with the Data Systems, Analytics, and Reporting team to ensure that correct recipients are selected for each fundraising effort, that appropriate segmentation logic is put in place, and that all required suppressions are applied. Manages seed lists. Coordinates with the Gifts and Records team on new record loads and appends, which may impact data availability for solicitations. (25%)
Schedules all production and team meetings. Prepares agendas for all meetings. Facilitates discussion on immediate and long-term production priorities to ensure that all team members are consistently informed, and all activities stay on track. (15%)
Manages vendor estimates, obtains approvals, records distribution counts, and tracks expenditures against the budget. Processes invoices and provides regular spending reports to the team and department leadership. (5%)
Collects and records outcomes of all appeals, crowdfunding campaigns, and everyday online giving efforts. Tracks philanthropic revenue, donor counts, and responses by appeal code. Reports regularly on the program results and progress to goal for each channel. (10%)

Experience/Qualifications
A bachelor's degree in a related field or equivalent experience.
Minimum 3 years nonprofit fundraising, development operations, and/or direct marketing experience, preferably in a higher education setting.
Exemplary communication (both written and oral), project management and organization skills.
Demonstrated computer competency. Experience with project management or productivity software like Smartsheet.
Familiarity with fundraising data and basic understanding of audience segmentation. Experience with common advancement databases like Ellucian Advance or Raiser's Edge.
Must be goal-oriented and self-motivated individual who can demonstrate accountability, initiative, creativity and focus in rapidly changing and intellectually stimulating environment.
Demonstrate strong active listening skills and ability to negotiate positive outcomes.
Outstanding interpersonal skills, sound ethical judgment, and experience handling highly confidential information.
