Summary: This position provides high-level logistical support for ASTHO??? in-person, hybrid, and virtual events. The AV/Office Event Specialist will act as a liaison between the Events department, IT department, and programmatic staff related to event management needs.
Location: Arlington, VA (D.C. Area)
Anticipated pay rate: $33/hr. Extended experience: up to $37/hr. if experience exceeds expectations
Anticipated Duration: 9-12 Months
Principal Functions:
Consult with project teams (or external clients) to understand and determine their event needs
Assist and/or lead headquarter-based events: consult with project teams and/or external clients to conceptualize and design the meeting based on their needs, establish implementation plans including timelines, staffing needs and deadlines for executing logistical support, manage catering orders, and check-in process
Serves as primary support for the logistical execution of in-person and hybrid learning events at ASTHO???s Arlington Headquarters
Setup and breakdown audio visual equipment for events
Setup and breakdown meeting space for events including moving furniture to align with event needs
Provide backup support for virtual events as well as hybrid events hosted in the Arlington area
Monitor event activities to ensure compliance with ASTHO standards and event policies
Maintain a working knowledge of regularly used AV equipment
Establish and maintain strong working relationships with IT and Facilities staff as well as AV suppliers and vendors
Collaborate with Manager of Learning and Hybrid Events to develop new and innovative ways to implement and support ASTHO members
Quickly solve problems and make quick decisions during the production of events
Qualifications:
Bachelor???s degree in a related field required
In-depth audio/visual knowledge with 2+ years of practical related experience
Experience with audio/visual equipment such as microphones, cameras, video switchers, presentation software, etc.
Excellent written and oral communication skills are essential, as well as multitasking and troubleshooting
Strong organizational and time management skills necessary
Experience supporting virtual and/or hybrid events is required
Positions self to install equipment, including under desks
Ability to move equipment weighing up to 50 pounds
Must live in the Washington, DC area
