The Director of Title IX and Student Conduct is responsible for providing overall leadership related to the implementation and maintenance of Title IX compliance, practices, and policies, student conduct, administrative response to student issues and crisis management, divisional assessment process, and administrative campus wide communication process for the Student Affairs division. As such, the Director of Title IX and Student Conduct must stay current and informed regarding relevant higher education trends, best practices, and regulatory matters. As the Title IX Coordinator, this position will have primary responsibility to monitor, supervise and oversee all campus-wide implementation of and compliance with Title IX, including Athletics, Human Resources, Academic Affairs, Student Affairs, and any other gender and sex discrimination related issues or complaints. Such efforts will include coordination of training, education, communications, and administration of complaint procedures for faculty, staff, students, and third parties. The Director of Title IX and Student Conduct works under the direction of the Dean of Students to support and advance all programs and services related to the spiritual formation of all students, various student engagement opportunities, and holistic wellness of students.
Master's Degree required in Higher Education, Student Development, Psychology, or related field.
Minimum Experience: 4-6 years of progressively responsible experience in areas such as: student affairs, emergency response, and complaint investigation and resolution (e.g. Title IX/EEO/ADA compliance) .
Preferred Experience: 6-8 years of related experience, administrative leadership experience in student affairs, including experience in handling grievances and conducting investigations, leading campus wide collaborative initiatives related to case prevention and compliance. Administrative experience in Higher Education, nonprofit, or public sector organizations; successful development and implementation of educational and training programs, with strong presentation and facilitation skills.
Understanding of the higher education landscape and the ability to address challenges facing higher education pertinent to Title IX compliance and education policy from a Christian worldview.
Primary Duties/Essential Functions
Provides leadership or participates in various campus committees including but not limited to Care Team, Behavioral Threat Assessment Team, Alcohol and Other Drug Task Force, etc.
Partners with the Dean of Students to interpret and explain university philosophies, policies, and requirements to students.
Partners with the Dean of Students to evaluate and assess the effectiveness of Student Affairs programs and offerings and takes a data-informed approach toward continuous improvement of all Student Affairs areas.
Student Conduct and Accountability
Partners with the Dean of Students to develop a restorative and educational philosophy of student accountability, creates and maintains policy for student conduct, and oversees the implementation of objective and timely accountability and judicial processes.
Maintains legal and ethical practice in the judicial process related to student affairs.
Serve as the primary administrator for the ongoing evaluation of technology/programs being utilized to implement the accountability process.
Administrative Leadership and Response
Serve as one of the lead student affairs administrators to timely respond to student issues and assist the Dean of Students by responding to any major student crises promptly and effectively.
Draft any campus wide communication on behalf of the Student Affairs division, and facilitate the dissemination of the information to all constituents.
Assist the Dean of Students in facilitating the Student Affairs Directors meeting.
Partners with the Dean of Students to facilitate an ongoing process for assessment and create an accountability structure for all directors to follow.
Serve as a resource for staff and students related to assessment efforts within student affairs (including the annual SGA survey).
Oversees university's prompt, thorough, and respectful responses to all Title IX complaints. Ensures investigations comply with the University's written procedures and Title IX requirements under APU's Sexual Harassment, Stalking and Sexual Violence Policy (Title IX), including notices, timelines, training, and interim actions.
Oversees the development, monitoring, and required reporting (i.e. Clery Act) of all Title IX related University policies and implementation of grievance procedures as appropriate.
Regularly attends Title IX education programs to ensure compliance with Title IX investigative standards and continuously identifies and integrates best practices as they relate to Title IX processes.
Coordinates Title IX Investigators and oversees investigations and work of Title IX Investigators. Advises other administrators, investigators and hearing process members on Title IX issues and obligations.
Partners with the Athletic department to coordinate Title IX educational opportunities and expedite Title IX processes for NCAA compliance.
Creates, implements, and manages annual training program for all mandatory responsible employees, investigators, appeals personnel, and anyone else who may function in any official capacity related to APU's Sexual Harassment, Stalking and Sexual Violence procedures.
Oversee the implementation of a Title IX training program for all new students.

Grade 17: $91,587 - $105,325 is the annual salary for this role and reflects what Azusa Pacific University reasonably expects to pay for this position. Actual compensation may vary based on the qualifications, experience, and internal equity. In addition to compensation, APU offers a competitive benefits package.
