Position Title: Coordinator, Development and Alumni Affairs

Description:
Reporting to the Director of Development and Alumni Affairs, the Coordinator, Development and Alumni Affairs will provide support for fundraising and alumni affairs initiatives. This includes assisting with creating and broadening alumni programming and maintaining and updating information for the Zucker School of Medicine's growing alumni population. The Coordinator will also help coordinate and manage fundraising initiatives, various direct mail and electronic outreach, and fundraising campaigns. This position requires the use of independent judgment in planning and prioritizing a diversified workload, and discretion in regular communications with students, faculty, physicians, alumni, donors, and administrators at Hofstra University, the Zucker School of Medicine, and Northwell Health. This position requires a flexible work schedule, including some early mornings and late evenings to support events and meetings. Weekend work may also be required to monitor program activities.
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
Researches, manages, and maintains alumni contact information (residency location, specialties, employment, honors, etc.) for Zucker School of Medicine alumni.
Assists with direct mail and electronic outreach campaigns from inception through gift processing
Handles quarterly stewardship letters and utilizes peer-to-peer online fundraising campaigns.
Works with communications team to create alumni and development related social media posts, including spotlights for donors and alumni, event recaps, and more.
Compiles and formats news items for the quarterly alumni e-newsletter.
Researches prospective donors to the Zucker School of Medicine.
Assists with annual stewardship reports for scholarship and research stipend donors.
Assists with development and alumni event planning and execution.
Provides administrative support to the Director, including managing correspondence, scheduling, attending, and keeping record of meetings, tracking the completion of tasks, and helping with event execution.
Performs other related duties and special projects as assigned.
Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree required.
Minimum 1-3 years' experience in fundraising/development, alumni affairs, or other nonprofit organizations.
Must have above average organizational skills and attention to detail
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills (written and verbal), and must demonstrate a high degree of judgement, discretion, and confidentiality.
Ability to establish and maintain positive working relationships with staff, faculty, alumni, donors, and students.
Ability to manage complex projects in a busy work environment, make decisions with little oversight, and approach challenges with creativity and innovation.
Interest and motivation to learn about fundraising and alumni affairs as a sector.
Must have extensive computing experience and have proficiency with Microsoft Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
Must be able to provide own transportation to and from off-site meetings.
Preferred Qualifications:
Familiarity with maintaining a fundraising database, specifically, Raiser's Edge, experience preferred.
