ACP is currently seeking a Governance Manager!
American College of Prosthodontists (ACP) is searching for an experienced professional who is open and approachable, able to maintain the strictest of confidentiality, and a consensus builder. The Governance Manager will manage activities central to the ACP and the ACP Education Foundation (ACPEF) including the ACP Council and ABP Examiner nominations, petition and election processes. This role will also collaborate with the Executive Director to manage strategic priorities regarding leadership development. This role will have an opportunity to grow and expand your responsibilities, work with a volunteer board, work independently, offer input on how to shape the role, and see how your contributions impact results.

What is the Opportunity?
Reporting to the Executive Director (ED), the Governance Manager will support the governance, and volunteer management, at the ACP and ACPEF. This position will manage the policies and procedures that govern certain operations of the organization including the election process. The successful candidate would be responsible for the following:
Collaborate with the President-Elect to coordinate the committee and task force appointment process and maintain policies and procedures related to the process.
Work with ED to oversee the implementation, monitoring, and reporting of annual strategic plan deliverables.
Develop and monitor the budget and forecasts for all governance activities including the election process, advocacy, officers and board of directors.
Manage the updating and distribution of the Committee Handbooks, leadership job descriptions and bylaws in collaboration with ED and the Executive Committee.
Manage the annual election and petition process including managing ballot and petition set up with the voting tool vendor.
Collaborate with ED in the development and delivery of annual Board orientation programs.
Serve with ED as a resource for the Membership Division on matters raised by Section Leadership on governance and policy development where appropriate.
Provide logistical and administrative support to the Prosthodontic Forum Director to coordinate the annual Prosthodontic Forum meeting.
Update and maintain ACP/ACPEF Board and governance online reference and resource repository.
Manage annual awards processes including notifications, announcements, and recognition.
Collaborate with other staff committee liaison to ensure appropriate resources and support are provided and coordinated with these teams the collection of committee and division.
Interviews: First-round interviews will be virtual and second-round interviews will be onsite if schedule permits
Job Location: ACP has a hybrid work environment. During the (90) days of your onboarding, new hires come into the office (1-2) times per week and afterward, come into the office as the job requires. Our office is currently located in the near northside of Chicago and will relocate to the Rosemont area in February 2024. The candidate must reside within the Chicagoland area due to the need to come into the office. Relocation assistance for out-of-state candidates is not available.
What qualifications are needed?
The successful candidate would possess the following:
Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in business, marketing, communications, or equivalent amount of experience is required.
Minimum of 3 years of related experience; Association, non-profit or membership experience a plus
Experience working with Microsoft 365
Proficient managing files within a cloud-based file management application such as SharePoint or DropBox
Proficient working with collaboration applications such as Teams or Slack
Seeking skillsets in working with budgets
Competencies/Other Qualifications:
Ability to work independently and demonstrate initiative in achieving goals and objectives
Strong record of building positive working relationships with members and volunteers
Detail-orientated and comfortable working in a fast-paced environment
Demonstrated personal poise and tact for executive and customer contact
Ability to handle sensitive and confidential information
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
Superior organization skills and dedication to completing projects in a timely manner
Some travel, evening and weekend work required. Travel includes 1-2 trips per year for a total of 7-10 days per year.
