Executive Director of the CSUSM Corporation and Associate Vice President of Business Development California State University, San Marcos San Marcos, CA
California State University San Marcos (CSUSM) seeks applications and nominations for the role of Executive Director of the CSUSM Corporation and Associate Vice President of Business Development (ED). The next ED will provide creative leadership in a dynamic growth environment where they will seek new opportunities to expand revenue and improve the student experience.
As one of three auxiliary organizations for CSUSM, the CSUSM Corporation is a self-supporting 501(c)(3) nonprofit that advances CSUSM's mission by providing instructional support and services not typically provided by the state, including support for sponsored projects, real estate and property management, campus dining and student housing services, commercial partners management, business operations, and summer conferences. The Executive Director and Associate Vice President provides innovative and entrepreneurial leadership, strategic planning, revenue generation, financial management, organizational development, and managerial and negotiation skills. The individual who takes the helm of the CSUSM Corporation will provide an ambitious vision for the unit in alignment with the university's mission of advancing social mobility for its exceptional and diverse student body.
The new Executive Director will lead a strong and dedicated team poised to build on the recent growth and success of the corporation. Over the last 18 months, revenues have increased significantly. The housing and dining footprint at the university has expanded and new revenue streams have been developed, including the expansion of concessions. Further projects are underway, including an on-campus convenience store and Starbucks and further expansion of housing and dining planned for 2026. The new ED will manage these projects to completion while looking for additional opportunities to expand revenue, partner with local developers, and provide excellent service to the CSUSM community.
Since its founding in 1989 as the California State University's 20th campus, CSUSM has grown to serve over 16,000 students today. A comprehensive public university offering diverse academic programs, CSUSM prides itself on exemplary teaching, innovative and experiential curricula, and the application of new technologies to solve real problems. A national model for student access and success, more than 50 percent of CSUSM graduates are the first in their families to earn a bachelor's degree. CSUSM is a Hispanic-Serving Institution (HSI) and the university enrolls more Native American students per capita than any other California State University campus. CSUSM is located in northern San Diego county, just across the street from North City, a residential and commercial urban oasis that offers enormous opportunity for the Corporation to expand and provide even richer opportunities to CSUSM students and the broader community.
Located in the beautiful foothills of northern San Diego County, the annual salary for the ED role is $180,000-$220,000.
