The University of Southern Californiaâs Iovine and Young Academy is seeking a talented and experienced advancement professional for the position of Director, Development. The Director of Development requires strong strategic management skills to lead a team of advancement that integrates development, communications, events and external relations in a dynamic, diverse and collaborative context.
The ideal candidate must have a Bachelorâs degree with five or more years of fundraising experience in a nonprofit or higher education setting. The Director of Development must have a demonstrated track record of success in developing, leading, and managing strategic initiatives, donor relationships, and campaigns. This is a high-profile leadership role that requires a professional with excellent verbal and written communication skills, strong interpersonal skills, and a commitment to working collaboratively with teams and stakeholders.
POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES / JOB ACCOUNTABILITIES
· Integrate philanthropy, industry relations, alumni relations, community relations, events, and communications activities into a dynamic advancement strategy for a cutting edge intersectional educational enterprise.
· Partner with faculty, the Dean and advancement colleagues to build and evolve a forwarding looking advancement strategy that highlights the unique characteristics of the IYA within the USC and LA entrepreneurial environments.
· Utilize multimodal data and diverse evidence to validate and update the strategy.
· Leverage the unique and cutting-edge learning environment of the IYA to initiate appropriate contact and develop meaningful and effective development events for donors and prospective donors to showcase unique opportunities for support.
· Develop, coordinate and implement fundraising strategies and proposals to secure major gifts; maintain and cultivate donor relations.
· Partner with faculty and staff to implement a communications strategy that integrates digital and physical assets and leverages all stakeholder relations: students, faculty, alumni, industry and community.
· Direct and provides leadership to development team, maintaining responsibility for strategic vision, fiscal oversight, staff development and staffing needs.
· Assume and achieve fundraising financial and activity goals set annually.
· Ensure compliance with University fundraising policies, goals, and procedures.
· Other duties as assigned.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: ⢠Experience working in higher education.
· Solid relationship-building skills, ability to interface with donors, leading faculty, administrators, board members, trustees, and cross-campus partners.
· Experience in high-profile leadership role that requires excellent communication skills, public speaking and fundraising proposal writing.
· Demonstrated technical proficiency in using digital technology to manage a diverse advancement strategy.

· Preferred Education: Bachelorâs Degree.
· Minimum Skills: Major campaign, fundraising, public relations and/or volunteer management experience

The annual base salary range for this position is $170,000 - $210,000.
