The PGY-1 residency program at CHRISTUS Trinity Mother Frances is designed to enhance and strengthen the resident’s clinical skills and knowledge of the practice of pharmacy. A high priority is placed on teaching evidence-based care and preparing residents for the opportunities available to PGY-1 graduates.
The program has been accredited since 2009. It has 21 preceptors that are intimately involved in the program as well as other pharmacists that work with the residents throughout the year.
Inpatient clinical pharmacist duties and services include: interdisciplinary patient care rounds, pharmacokinetic dosing, antimicrobial stewardship, anticoagulation management, therapeutic substitution, IV to PO conversion, renal dosing, code response, TPN dosing, and patient counseling.
