Position Summary:
The Department of Communication at Rutgers University's School of Communication and Information seeks a full-time faculty member in the area of organizational communication processes with an emphasis on strategic communication. The appointment will begin Fall 2024.
We seek a social scientist using organizational and strategic communication theories to understand how organizations engage diverse internal and external stakeholders. The candidate should have a research program that is theory-driven, empirical, and communication-centered. The ideal candidate would have direct industry experience working in or in research partnership with organizations in the public, private, or nonprofit sectors. Experience with engaged organizational communication research approaches is also desirable.
Applicants' scholarship and teaching could focus on a variety of pressing and emerging issues in the field, including but not limited to:
· Crisis communication and organizing in disaster contexts
· Corporate social responsibility
· Cross-sector partnerships (public, private and non-profit sectors) for the public good
· Use of emerging technologies and/or social media to effectively engage key stakeholders
· Organizational resilience and community well-being
Our faculty employs a wide range of empirical and methodological approaches in their research. We encourage candidates whose scholarship intersects with, and extends, one or more of the department's research foci (organizational communication, health communication, communication and technology, interpersonal communication, and language and social interaction) and/or other areas within the school such as media studies and information science. Minimum Education and Experience:
A Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree in a relevant field is expected as of June 2022 for a September start date.
