Job Description:
Manages program outreach strategy and creates marketing and recruiting materials in collaboration with BFI and EPIC Communications teams to increase awareness of the programs internally at the University of Chicago and externally at top-tier institutions.
Designs and executes programming for pre-doctoral fellows. Examples include faculty presentations to research staff, research staff workshops, orientation week sessions on operations related to research, trainings on unconscious bias and bystander intervention, and professional development programming.
In conjunction with the PREP Program Director, assists in annual onboarding and offboarding of pre-doctoral fellows ensuring that incoming fellows have all relevant materials and training to fulfill their duties and all outgoing fellows are appropriately offboarded.
Works closely with faculty managing pre-doctoral fellows to ensure their research needs have been met. Assists faculty with learning and implementing best practices for hiring candidates, implementing inclusive practices, and effectively managing pre-doctoral fellows.
In collaboration with PREP Program Director, evaluates and manages program curriculum and policies; assists in managing programmatic budget and ensures fiscal responsibility in close partnership with PREP Program Director.
Implements onboarding and orientation for research professionals in close partnership with PREP Program Director; and independently plans, oversees, and coordinates a wide range of programs, events, and activities to help build and maintain program community.
Recruits, hires, and provides training for the program in close cooperation with the PREP Program Director; advises pre-doctoral fellows on how to navigate the program and works closely with their faculty supervisors; maintains strong relationships with faculty for successful program delivery; ensures smooth and proper functioning of programs; leads and implements programming; and assists PREP Program Director in implementing protocols for evaluating the effectiveness of programs.
Assists PREP Program Director with developing and communicating program priorities and performance standards and assessing operations using these criteria; in conjunction with PREP Program Director, plans and conducts quality assurance reviews and recommends changes as appropriate.
Assists in developing and administering BFIâ™s summer RA program, including recruiting, onboarding, programming, and offboarding of 40 summer RAs.
Analyzes program budgets and recommends or makes budgetary recommendations.
Has moderate/high levels of interactions with faculty, researchers and staff for committee work or information.
Performs other related work as needed.
Preferred Qualifications
Education:
Bachelorâ™s degree from an accredited institution.
A masterâ™s degree from an accredited institution
Experience in a PhD program at an accredited institution.
Experience:
Background in nonprofit or higher education sectors.
Technical Skills or Knowledge:
Proficiency with Microsoft Office and quickly learn University-based systems.
