FINANCIAL ANALYST, FINANCIAL CONTROL, Office of the Vice President for Finance (VPF), to analyze financial data to identify internal financial control risks and trends that will enable units and Institute leadership to make informed decisions. Will identify requirements, create analytical dashboards, and collaborate on implementing monitoring tools; ensure appropriate controls are in place to address compliance; and synthesize financial transaction data and monitor activity to identify risk, outliers, potential fraud, trends, or other anomalies.
REQUIRED: bachelor's degree; four years' relevant experience; experience with auditing and analyzing financial transactions; knowledge of accounting principles and relevant federal regulations for specialty areas, including research and nonprofit organizations; proficiency with data visualization and communication tools; comprehensive knowledge of financial and internal control concepts and analysis, integrating multiple pieces of financial information to identify themes/trends/issues, and developing and managing response plans; experience analyzing internal controls and procedures related to financial processes; audit experience; experience executing procedures to investigate potential risk areas; excellent analytical, problem-solving, and written and verbal communication skills; and proficiency with Word and Excel. Must be able to analyze large amounts of data while maintaining attention to detail; question established business practices and brainstorm new approaches to data analysis; assess and identify risks and fraud within a process and design and implement effective processes or controls; and handle multiple priorities and ensure timely follow-through. PREFERRED: master's degree; experience with AppZen, Concur, Coupa, and expense audit platforms; knowledge of SAP, BrioQuery, and Cognos; MIT or higher education experience; proficiency with statistical programming languages, database query languages, predictive analysis techniques, and statistical methodology; and experience with SPSS, SAS, R, or Python.
