Job Summary
The Associate Director of Graduate Student Services role is an integral position within the O'Neill School's Master's Programs Office (MPO). The MPO serves all students enrolled in a master's degree or graduate certificate program in the O'Neill School and all prospective students who are interested in pursuing a master's degree or graduate certificate program in the O'Neill School. The MPO is home to all administrative functions that relate to master's student enrollment management and current student services including but not limited to recruitment, admissions, financial aid, advising, engagement, and records.
Department Specific Responsibilities
Serves as the leader of advising and current student services for all O'Neill master's degree and certificate students.
Develops, implements, and executes student retention services, academic planning and advising strategies, and onboarding and orientation programming.
Proactive in offering leadership regarding new initiatives and is instrumental in making decisions on academic policies/procedures and addresses obstacles that stand in the way of continued student success.
Delivers effective, efficient, and consistent current student services that contribute to the academic and professional success of O'Neill master's students.
Oversees academic advising for residential and online master's students in the O'Neill School.
Monitors and support students who are at-risk or on academic probation.
Ensures the execution and implementation of the O'Neill Graduate Onboarding Canvas course and Master's Student Handbook.
Leads engagement programming designed to engage and support all O'Neill master's and certificate students.
Collaborates with the O'Neill Career Hub and faculty to provide co-curricular and enrichment opportunities for O'Neill master's students.
Ensures the successful delivery of special events and recognition ceremonies for current master's students.
Administers and evaluates all student services assessments including surveys that are sent to students when they begin and exit their degree programs.
Serves as the lead for all international student services for graduate students in O'Neill, in collaboration with colleagues in O'Neill and IU's Office of International Services.
Supports the planning and delivery of new Master's Programs Office initiatives and degree programs.
Collaborates with the Master's Programs Office enrollment management team to ensure a seamless transition for admitted students as they matriculate into their degree programs.
Oversees the execution of the incoming and current student communication plan for both residential and online students.
Assists in coordinating O'Neill Online week, a week-long in-residence course for O'Neill Online master's students.
Represents the Master's Programs Office at University meetings/events and engages with external stakeholders.
General Responsibilities
Provides day-to-day operational management of student services staff.
Establishes short-term operational objectives.
Identifies operational issues and/or areas of improvement and implements solutions to improve processes and/or operational efficiency.
Analyzes, monitors, and evaluates performance of assigned staff; establishes work priorities, conducts performance reviews, and provides corrective action as needed.
Ensures adequate staffing and effective scheduling; participates and informs employment decisions for assigned staff.
Provides direct supervision and oversight of assigned staff and activities; impacts, and is held accountable for, the performance of team and/or assigned staff.
Ensures and provides training to assigned staff to improve student services operations; researches and identifies development opportunities for assigned staff.
Researches and stays up-to-date on new industry student services standards, best practices, and emerging technology; keeps next-level leader(s) informed of trends as well as significant problems.

EDUCATION
Required
Bachelor's degree in law, public health, public affairs, counseling, social work, or related field
Preferred
Master's degree in higher education student affairs or related field

Working Conditions / Demands
This role requires the ability to effectively communicate and to operate a computer and other standard office productivity equipment. The position involves sedentary work as well as periods of time moving around an office environment and the campus. The person in this role must be able to perform the essential functions with or without an accommodation.
Work Location
Bloomington, Indiana
This position is eligible to work a hybrid schedule (mix between remote 1 day a week and in-person work 4 days a week), subject to change in the future based on university policy and business needs.
