The Clinical Quality Technologist II- Certified - Clinical Lab Quality Focus is an integral member of the Clinical Laboratory Quality Team Supporting management of the Fred Hutch Clinical Lab Quality Program throughout Fred Hutch Clinical Laboratories.
The Quality Technologist (QT) will be responsible for Quality Processes under the direction of the Senior QA Manager, Clinical Labs. The program provides quality oversight over all clinical testing performed throughout all Fred Hutch Clinical Sites. The program is overseen and run by the Lab Quality Department.
Responsibilities
Clinical Lab Quality
- Actively participates in regulatory crosswalks linking CAP/CLIA/DOH/ASHI requirements to evidence of compliance with assigned laboratories
- Conducts compliance audits scheduled and run by the Clinical Lab Quality Department
- Audits may be linked to regulatory standards or
- Audits may audit operational staff adherence to published SOP's
- Participates in QI projects to meet gaps identified in compliance audits
- Assists Clinical Lab Operations in validation review and planning
- Performs Document Control Audits including adherence to biennial (and as required other) review schedules
- Acts as a liaison for continuous survey readiness during on-site (and as required remote) regulatory surveys
- Support laboratory quality improvement meetings and special projects as designated and maintains the Lab Quality Dashboard.
- Performs Document Control Procedure for Clinical Laboratories/Clinical Lab Quality as needed
- May review documents for compliance and appropriateness that are generated Y by the laboratories such as validations and Standard Operating Procedures.
- Participates in compliance audits run by the Clinical Lab Quality Department.
- Participates in continuous survey readiness and on-site surveys as assigned by leadership.
Qualifications
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
- AA/AS in Medical Technology or related field.
- Minimum of 2 years of clinical lab or research experience
- Medical Laboratory Scientist, Medical Technologist or an equivalent certification with certified maintenance of continuing education through ASCP, AMT or AAB
- Always interacts constructively with peers, management and outside contacts.
- Attention to detail
- Ability to interpret applicable regulations as pertinent to area of focus (FDA/FACT/CAP/CLIA/ DOH/ASHI)
- Proficient with the MS Office Suite
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to work in a high pressure, time-sensitive, and complex health care environment
- Ability to identify and triage issues appropriately
- Familiarity with medical terminology
- Ability to communicate verbally in person, on the phone, and in writing in a clear, concise and professional manner
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Certified CAP Inspector Team Member
This position is patient facing and/or requires access to Fred Hutch clinical facilities. As such, full COVID-19 vaccination is required as a condition of employment, without exception. Booster doses are strongly recommended but not required. If declining a booster, completion of the COVID-19 Vaccination Status Form Questionnaire and COVID-19 Booster Declination Training is required. The hourly pay range for this position is from $37.54 to $56.30 and pay offered will be based on experience and qualifications.
