Accurate and meaningful data is foundational to supporting the critical mission of Brown University community engagement. The Data Management Specialist ensures that constituent and related Advancement data is accurate and accessible, supporting the critical mission of Brown University community engagement. The incumbent is responsible for preparing, researching, analyzing, and processing alumni, donor, and friend data from multiple sources internal and external to the University.  Data managed by this team includes identity information (such as name, gender, ethnicity, etc.), contact information, relationships, educational information, student involvements and awards, contact preferences, and many other data points that impact an individual or organizationâ™s relationship with the Brown community.
Data quality is improved by identifying, evaluating, and resolving data hygiene/integrity issues for both unique situational challenges and the results of complex queries. The accuracy and effectiveness of internal and external reports sourced from Advancement rely on this work. The Data Management Specialist provides excellent customer service through diplomatic contact with external constituents, which can significantly impact the constituentâ™s relationship with the University.

Required Education and Experience
Minimum 2 years of experience in data processing or a related field such as bookkeeping, accounting, auditing, higher education, nonprofit, or fundraising.
Bachelorâ™s degree or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Required Qualifications
Experience with Microsoft Excel required
Experience with data management desired, preferably in financial or biographic data fields
Experience with CRM systems is desired; preference for experience with Blackbaud CRM or Raiserâ™s Edge
Proficient with using Microsoft Office, Google Suite, and information management systems
Experience, understanding, and command of procedural work in reference to databases and quality control required
