The salary of the finalist selected for this role will be set based on a variety of factors, including but not limited to departmental budgets, qualifications, experience, education, licenses, specialty, and training. The above hiring range represents the University's good faith and reasonable estimate of the range of possible compensation at the time of posting.
Position Summary
Reporting to the Director of Strategic Content Management, the Senior Associate Director of Social Media Engagement will lead Columbia SIPA???s social media efforts in three key areas???strategy and analytics, content creation, and community building. These key areas will involve the following responsibilities: (1) Strategy and Analytics-- Develop a comprehensive social media strategy and analytics framework; (2)Content Creation-- Source and create engaging storytelling across SIPA social media platforms, with an emphasis on established and emerging social media trends and best practices; and (3) Community Building-- Develop and maintain ties with students, alumni, faculty, and other stakeholders to broaden SIPA's user-generated content and influencer strategy.

Responsibilities
Leads and implements social media strategy and analytics for SIPA brand accounts ensuring brand, graphic, and voice consistency across all platforms. Maintains an editorial calendar for social media.
Creates compelling written and visual content tailored to each social media platform.
Collaborates with students, alumni, and faculty to source user-generated content for SIPA???s main social media accounts.
Leads on research, planning, and implementation to enter new platforms or launch new content strategies.
Triages communication from social media comments and DMs and escalates with appropriate stakeholders. Develops and maintains playbooks for social media governance, policy, and crisis communication.
Conducts regular peer school and sector (think tanks, NGOs, etc.) audits and develops trend reports to continuously improve SIPA???s social media strategy.
Monitors news and trends in international affairs and public policy and develops content around the issues that are relevant to SIPA.
Develops and measures relevant KPIs for SIPA social media and creates an analytics reporting dashboard
Supervises student program assistants or other part-time casual employees as needed.
Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor???s degree in communication, public relations, journalism, public administration, or related field and minimum of four years of professional related experience.
Knowledge of and familiarity with news and trends in international affairs and public policy and the channels, outlets, and influencers active in this space.
Strong independent decision-making skills and judgment.
Ability to work with initiative, creativity, and attention to detail and confidentiality.
Ability to rapidly adapt to new information, changing conditions, or unexpected obstacles.
Strong project management skills.
Ability to work effectively under tight deadlines, prioritize, multi-task, be self-reliant but also know when to ask questions.
Excellent writing, editing, and proofreading skills
Demonstrated experience growing engagement and reach across social media platforms.
Ability to foster an inclusive workplace where diversity and individual differences are valued.
Preferred Qualifications
Professional experience in political campaigns, government/public affairs, think tanks, or nonprofit sectors.
Additional years of directly related professional experience.
Experience creating and measuring content using industry-standard social media tools (e.g., Hootsuite, Sprout, Meta Creator Studio, Canva, Linktree, Later, etc.).
Experience creating social media content in-app (e.g., Instagram stories, Live, Reels).
Experience working with user-generated content and/or managing influencers.
