The Grant Writer reports directly to the Manager, Systems Development. This position is responsible for strategic planning to align CapMetro to seek and receive local, state, federal and other grants that would support programming and projects directly related to CapMetro services, inter-agency communication and coordination to support grant writing and grant submission, and coordination with external stakeholders in support of grant writing and submission. The ideal candidate would understand federal, state, and local processes for preparing and submitting grants and would have experience writing and receiving grants.
WHAT YOU BRING
Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Urban Planning, Economics or Communications or related field. Additional experience may be substituted on a year-for-year basis for up to four years.
Three (3) years required, five (5) years preferred, progressively responsible experience working with nonprofit companies or agencies regarding grant application process, financial accounting and/or reporting.
Preferred experience with public transportation grant programs and FTA.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
Skills to orally communicate with staff of government agencies, engineers, transportation planners and management.
Skills in technical writing for projects and grant development.
Ability to prepare reports and letters on a variety of transportation issues.
Technical proficiency with computer hardware and software, including Microsoft Word Suite and Microsoft PowerPoint.
Preferred experience in project management.
Preferred ability to compile, analyze and interpret technical data and information regarding capital improvement projects.
Preferred skills in analyzing grant requirements for eligible activities and allowable costs.
Preferred ability to review capital, planning and operating assistance projects for compliance with FTA requirements.
Preferred knowledge of the institutional framework of Federal/intergovernmental grant concepts and processes.
