STAFF ACCOUNTANT, MIT Federal Credit Union (MITFCU), to assist with the month-end closing process, daily/weekly general ledger accounting transactions of third-party accounting/core processing systems, financial reporting responsibilities, and a variety of other accounting-related tasks. Responsibilities include preparing daily general ledger entries and analyses, posting to the general ledger system, and producing daily reports; contributing to the month-end general ledger closing process by preparing entries and analyses, posting entries to the general ledger system, and producing monthly general ledger reports and other financial reporting; participating in accounting for the investment portfolio; serving as the primary accounts payable backup person; participating in accounting for fixed assets and prepaid/accrued expenses on general ledger system, setting up, processing, and reconciling accounts; preparing various month-end reports and contributing to the coordination of the monthly Board of directors package; participating in the regulatory reporting process, which may include the NCUA 5300 Call Report, and other regulatory reports; preparing ad-hoc reports and schedules as necessary to assist in the management of the department; monitoring and balancing various suspense accounts in the general ledger; handling bank reconciliations and other assigned general ledger accounts; providing auditing support, including preparing and gathering requested documentation; backing up other staff accountants; and complying with MIT FCU and MIT policies and procedures and state and federal laws.
Job Requirements REQUIRED: bachelor's degree in a related field; knowledge of accounting principles and relevant federal regulations for specialty areas, including those specific to research and nonprofit organizations; and working knowledge of BSA/AML policies and procedures and ability to implement as necessary in daily activities.
