Summary: The Director of Digital and Social Media will develop, lead, and execute ASTHO???s overall social media strategy. The position will develop a unified voice and content plan and schedule across ASTHO???s four social media platforms (Twitter, LinkedIn, Facebook, and YouTube). The director will stay on top of social media trends and advise on best practices. The position will understand and advocate for content that is high performing, while keeping the organization???s strategic plan top-of-mind. This position will report to ASTHO???s senior director of public relations and work closely with ASTHO???s content development team on graphic and digital design.

Anticipated salary: $90,000 Extended experience: up to $107,500 if experience exceeds expectations
Principal Functions:
Develop and execute a comprehensive social media strategy that captures the overall voice of the organization
Create and manage an editorial calendar to ensure strategic alignment across teams and the organization
Develop mechanism for collecting content from ASTHO???s internal and external sources
Identify tactics that drive readership and engagement growth and amplify them across channels
Constantly monitor social media seeking public health news, articles and new items for sharing, and retweeting and engaging with our partners, members, alumni, staff, and others
Set growth goals for ASTHO???s social media presence and align resources with vision
Grow and build YouTube strategy for ASTHO???s video content
Write and edit content and posts
Develop engaging multimedia and visual content, working in collaboration with ASTHO???s graphic design team, content development team, and public relations team
Provide guidance and best practices for social media, web, and mobile solutions that promote public health and enhance the brand reputation of ASTHO and its members
Maintain and track lists of social accounts listing of ASTHO members, partners and key public health organizations
Train ASTHO members and ASTHO senior leadership on best social media practices
Meet with project teams and advise them on social media approaches related to their communications goals
Recommend and execute paid campaigns for various programs and events
Develop clear and consistent digital and social metrics to support ASTHO's strategic goals and brand. Compile and present monthly analytics report to public relations team
Partner with state and territorial public information officers to amplify the work of ASTHO members
Co-manage communications specialist position
Lead and mentor public relations team staff members
Qualifications:
Bachelor's Degree in communications, public relations, journalism, or related field
7+ years of experience executing digital and social media plans, a focus on public health or health care is preferred
Demonstrated track record leading and executing high-performing social media campaigns
Experience driving engagement and audience growth using organic and paid tactics
Competent editor with strong attention to detail
Extensive experience writing social media copy
An understanding of YouTube optimization
Adept at SEO, SEM, and Google Analytics
Strong written and oral communication skills
