If so, the American Academy of Pediatrics (AAP) is seeking an Editorial Assistant to provide editorial and project support for Publishing activities, ensuring compliance with all deadlines, due dates, and schedules.
Hours: 8:00am – 4:30pm, with a 1-hour lunch. 37.5 hour work week.
Bachelor’s degree in journalism, communications, or related discipline or an equivalent combination of relevant education and work experience required.
One year related editorial or administrative experience required. Experience working with print and digital publications and knowledge of copyediting guidelines and publishing activities preferred.
Must pay close attention to detail, be able to manage multiple priorities simultaneously, take initiative, work both independently and as part of a team, collaborate effectively with various internal and external constituents, and promote and maintain a positive and cooperative team-oriented work environment with a commitment to equity, diversity, and inclusion.
Excellent organizational, interpersonal, time management, and oral/written communication skills required.
Some overtime and weekend work may be required.
Some tasks include:
Prepare all contracts and consulting agreements as directed.
Obtain appropriate conflict of interest (COI) disclosures from American Academy of Pediatrics (AAP) authors, editors, contributors, and editorial boards. Serve as department liaison to the AAP Compliance Specialist.
Obtain appropriate permissions for use of outside material for AAP publications.
Create art logs and track use of AAP digital assets.
Assist with manuscript development tasks as directed, including transferring edits, making corrections, and proofreading.
