Job Summary
The Assistant Director of Development plays an integral role in the philanthropic and outreach efforts of the Indiana University Kokomo Campus.
Department-Specific Responsibilities
Responsible for developing, implementing and evaluating plans to increase annual giving revenue goals with special focus on annual staff and faculty campaign. This includes serving as the lead fundraiser for all online campaigns alongside the Alumni Relations Director and as the lead annual gift officer for the IU Kokomo campus in partnership with the IU Foundation.
20% of this individuals time will be spent on major gift fundraising, and 80% of this individuals time will be spent on annual gift fundraising.
Manages a portfolio, cultivating, soliciting, and stewarding donors. Including Chancellor's Guild ($1,000 donors) and Seiberling Society ($5,000 donors).
Responsible to find matched-gift opportunities and support all event based fundraising efforts.
Serves as the fundraising lead for the IU Kokomo Campus Campaign and will actively participate in campus and community events to build relationships and a culture of philanthropy on campus.
Works with Development team to plan fundraising and stewardship events, collaborating with Marketing and Communications team for invitations, RSVPs, photography, press releases, coordination of a social media strategy, including crowdfunding campaigns.
Works with campus event coordinator on event logistics.
Develops and delivers an internal fundraising campaign, managing all aspects of the effort including committee development, campaign goals, campaign materials, donor stewardship, and reporting.
Serves as an active team member on all Advancement campaigns as requested.
Represents campus at community functions and develop relationship building activities for IU Kokomo.
Other duties as requested.
General Responsibilities
Identifies, cultivates, solicits, and stewards gifts through personal visits, phone calls, correspondence, and other campaigns and events.
Maintains personal contact with a range of constituent to provide information concerning gift and engagement opportunities and develop their interest and support.
Provides unit leadership and university partners professional fundraising assistance planning and coordinating various programs, projects and efforts that help acquire gifts and engage key stakeholders.
Manages and tracks activity, collaborates in the development of gift agreements and stewardship. Generates reports relative to development plans and activities with other donor relations personnel.
Makes recommendations for solicitation strategies to accomplish fundraising goals. Help create targeted appeals or specific strategies for departments, centers or programs.
Stays current on unit, university and IU Foundation activities and policies related to fundraising, mission and goals.
Qualifications
EDUCATION
Required
Bachelor's degree in related field
WORK EXPERIENCE
Preferred
3 years of professional fundraising experience in nonprofit sector, in higher education fundraising, with a demonstrated track record of success

Working Conditions / Demands
This role requires the ability to effectively communicate and to operate a computer and other standard office productivity equipment. The position involves sedentary work as well as periods of time moving around an office environment and the campus.
